I have yet to meet either an Abercrombie or a Fitch.

I worked with a consultant named Fitch for years. Cool guy, too. And very smart.

The irony is that by doing this, they are destroying the opportunity for a huge market. Women size 14 and up are something like 40% of the market these days, and that isn't cheese whiz, and most women are size 10 and up by far, the size0/size2/size4 championed by the fashion industry are a small minority, yet that is what they cater to. I remember laughing when Anne Taylor said they were adding larger sizes, and it turned out they were going to size 10, instead of size 8. From a marketing and business standpoint, and given how big people are getting, leaving a huge chunk of the market to 'tentware' providers and the like is really, really stupid, large size clothing that looks good can be a big market (no pun intended).

Interesting thread, I walked into an A&F one time back around 2004 (not even sure when exactly). It was around the time when camouflaged pants were in style worn with with a dress shirt, blazer and one of those skinny ties. At least according to half of their manaquins it was in style. I don't recall ever seeing that look anywhere else. I just happened to be walking by and I wanted camo pants but the prices on that cheap ass wrinkled rough feeling linen shit they had were outrageous even for mall prices. They were all pretty much at, I'm thinking$45 and $50 and up to $65. I tried to dicker with the snobby ass clerk but it just made her even snobbier. I've never considered walkin into one of their stores ever again since.
