How about you start by lurking on the site and finding out how it works first?

You know, before making major suggestions that would change the fundamental way the code works.

czarski -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/12/2013 8:28:33 PM)

Dear NiceButMean, why, do you think, I capitalized the ending in "dominATE"?

When a woman says something like "if you have no intention of giving me your money, don't contact me", I take it as a reasonably strong declaration of motives; WHY wouldn't that woman check the YES box if asked whether she expects financial benefit?

TNDommeK -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/12/2013 9:42:49 PM)

I feel like a witch in Salem back in the day. Damn, lol.

Because it narrows the pool of prospects. Why would she check the yes box if it means a loss of business?? That's like saying "all scammers should check the "scammer" box if that is what they are for.Why the hell would they do that? Seriously. If I was a scammer or a pro findomme, the last thing on earth I'm going to do is narrow down my prospects.

littlewonder -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/12/2013 10:38:13 PM)

I will add to that.....don't go ANYWHERE online. Scammers are everywhere online.

I'll make it easy for you"

1. Yes, there are a lot of fin dommes here.
2. Just ignore them.
3. If you fixate on the fin dommes it's because of your own frustration in not being able to find someone real.

That is so hysterical since I just read a profile for a guy in Germany who compared a lot of what he does to his alleged professional research on the torture of witches. Of course, it is possible there were translation issues, but I don't think so. He wasn't talking about findommes either, but still how ironic I read that profile and then almost immediately after you make reference to the same thing?

You pay nothing to use this site. Not one penny. The site gives you access to all sorts of fun stuff, including personals. For free.

All it requires of you is to invest a little time to weed out those not compatible with you and it even gives you the hide/block buttons to make it easier.

What you seem to be saying is that you can't be bothered to make the effort to find what you're looking for, and you want the site to do most of the work for you?

Just...wow smh

LafayetteLady -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/12/2013 11:00:35 PM)

I found the whole description hysterical, and sadly I have seen profiles that do kind of read like that.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/12/2013 11:13:35 PM)

Changing code? Ha! I'm gonna turn your whole reality in-side out.

I think findommes or findoms should have to PAY to post a profile. If a profile is found with any allusion to requiring "money", "tribute", whatever the new phrase is, it should be deleted unless they are paying a fee.

Think about it. The site is free and I LOVE that but, if I'm looking to make money by utilizing the resources of this site (and I'm not), then I should pay so that the site can afford to PAY someone to monitor that the rules are being adhered to.

I'm not submissive nor am I a findom but I think that the reason why so many complain about findom/mes is because there is an issue.

How much bandwidth is taken up by "findom/mes" that show up, every month that are a few sheckles short of making the rent. They either find their cashcow and "abandon" the profile or they don't find their cashcow and abandon their profile. Either way, there's a lot of wasted bandwidth for profiles that are useless.

The "legitimate" findom/mes that are getting tribute, would be able to pay a small amount and the game-players and predators would eventually fall off the map, freeing up bandwidth and reducing the cost of running the site.

I feel for the submissives that have to wade through the mountain of bullshit that exists.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Dude, those useless profiles are not useless to CM. They're actually quite useful. They are not deleted because the more people that looks like they are on CM the more people who will be attracted to the site and the more cash that will be pulled in by the sponsors on their site. It's one of the big reasons it takes forever to get a profile deleted from CM.

garyFLR -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/13/2013 12:58:16 AM)

I thought CynthiaWVirginia & Daddysatyr made some salient points, in particular. From a ladys', or any members point of view come to that, there must be an awful lot of fakes & scammers out there claiming to be something their not, & we have to sift through the detritus to find our personal little slice of Heaven. Whilst I'm not casting value judgements on 'findommery', there seems to be a marked increase in this activity since the recession started biting a few years ago.
As Daddysatyr says they put a profile on CM if they can't make the rent, which is sad in a way, but, business is business. At least they're upfront in what they want, & some of the photos' are cool [:)]. If what they're offering is not your cup of meat, pass them by. I wonder how many replies these ladies get? I suspect not many.
I don't know whether it's feasible charging a fee to people offering this service, & rather than ask the site to police these activities, we should police ourselves. We all invest something in relationships, emotionally, or financially. Pay your money, take your choice. Literally. Gary.

And when I was searching I had to come across a bunch of cheating assholes who thought that submissive women are easy.

The site is free. You get what you pay for.

czarski -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/13/2013 8:20:17 AM)

Oh yes, I CAN "be bothered to make the effort", that's what I am mostly doing here. Now listen: relationships and commerce and DIFFERENT things that should exist in different sections of a warehouse. I doubt Match.com allows escorts ads to drown "legit" profiles. OK, people pay for that membership, but fees are not the principal question here. I've been on enough free forums to know that commercial ads are normally routed to a separate section.

czarski -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/13/2013 8:24:46 AM)

It narrows the pool of prospects down to the REAL prospects. Do you even read findom profiles? There are PLENTY of findoms ANGRY about being contacted by scores of men unwilling to pay for the service. What I suggest would help both sides.

czarski -> RE: Fine-tuning the site to separate Fin from non-Fin (5/13/2013 8:29:03 AM)

When a findomme finds a cash cow, it only encourages her to continue searching (unless the cash cow is a millionaire bent on self-ruin). The ideal situation of a findomme is to have as many "donors" as possible and spend as little time on them as commercially feasible.

That's my pet peeve. I could go on, but will just say that when I was looking I'm sure I spent just as much time filtering as the OP.

Putting aside the Pay to Post Profile thing for now, there is currently a category under Report User for Scammer http://www.collarme.com/personals/scammers.htm

Scam #9 - Requests for "tribute"
This scam is typically perpetrated by persons (male or female) claiming to be dominant women. Commonly, the scammer will claim that they are inundated with messages and that you need to send them a "tribute" (money) to prove your sincerity before they will speak with you further. Typically, but not always, they will request that you send the money via an Amazon Gift Certificate. Not uncommonly, once the money is received, the scammer will stop responding to messages or delete their account. So, before sending anyone 'tribute', remember that your only reward may be a lower bank balance.

I think the issue is a sense of entitlement. In response to these threads whining about fin dommes, female subs/slaves will complain about the married cheaters they encounter and other issues, but I think in the years I've been here I can only think one thread started by a woman complaining about this.
