New to CM myself, but I met myself (or, rather, transformed my guilt and shame to acceptance and joy) online as well. In my case the catalyst was a.s.b.

I am still one of my best and most reliable partners.

Have had 3 long-term relationships (met through vanilla venues). After some time dating but before getting intimate, I brought up kinky play. 2 were kinky too and relieved to get to admit it and explore it. The 3rd was vanilla and agreed to play as foreplay.

an alt.torture and IRC old timer here. Those were fun times. I met tons of people from IRC and even had my own room and munch group there. I miss the alt.torture too. I tried going on IRC again last year just to see if it even existed anymore. There was a handful of people there and no one I remember.

Previously, I met one through a company christmas party (I didn't work there anymore, but was brought as a friend date by someone else). Lasted 2 years.

My other long term (5 years) I met at a friends 'single and bitter' party one valentine's day, long ago. He's still my best friend.
