Yes they do.

They also ask questions at very stupid times of the day or night.

At 3AM- "Do you love me?"
At 310AM- "Why"

Anytime during the day without warning- "Do you think <insert female friend name> is sexy?"

Or they get upset at the stupidist of things that may have happened days, weeks or even months in the past and just now bring it up.

Whoever came up with the Stepford wives had a good idea, now if science will make it happen....

To you and every other man here. There most certainly is a correct answer, and since those who are saying there isn't happen to be guys I like (in a friendly kind of way), I will tell you.

"honey, does this outfit make me look fat?"

"darling, you are as beautiful as the day I fell in love with you."

Note the important thing you have done.

You have NOT really answered the question, so nothing to fight about.

You should have successfully diffused the situation by reminding her that no matter how she looks (without saying, "damn, girl when did your ass get so big?"), you love her.

The last part of that sentence (as the day....) *kind of* says no, so you should be safe.

Keep in mind, its very rare when a woman asks that question, she wants the truth. What she does want is for you to tell her she is beautiful and that you love her and only have eyes for her. This is obviously only for the monogamous people. I haven't a clue about the poly folks although I assume it is the same except for the eyes part.

Anything else you want to know about women?

We aren't that difficult to decipher. You just have to use the right kind of logic.
