jlf1961 -> RE: Why celebrate dead soldiers? (5/27/2013 11:52:37 AM)

Men on both sides of my family served this country since the Revolution. Thanks to the Massacre that gave the name Bloody Madison to the county in North Carolina where my father's family comes from, they started serving the North. I have family members listed on the USS Arizona Memorial, then there are family members in Arlington, and in a few cemeteries in Europe, and scattered along a few pacific islands. Since WW2, family members have served in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Personally, I saw action on Grenada and a few other ops that Reagan considered vital to the interests of the United States. Of the men I served with, 26 were KIA since 1983. My point, again, men and women in uniform do not have the option to say no. Was every "war" since WW2 justified? I cant say, I have my opinions, but that is my right. You have your opinions Farble, and the others that seem to think that Memorial day is to celebrate the dead. I dont "celebrate" the dead, I drink a toast to their memory. All I ask is that for one day, you put your political views aside, and honor the sacrifice of those who were wounded or killed in service of the United States, and stop the bullshit.
