System can be changed though..if it is not functional

@ lady pact

Many scammers have multiple or alike accounts witht he same ingo.
I pressuem you have only 1 account?

Right now there are lot of profiles advertsisng for an other bdsm website .. with something like Http:// xxx.nl.ua
A spamfilter could get these out..as soon as there are multiple entrances over more then1 profile.
I only have one profile. However, MP and I could absolutely create a couples profile and have a lot of the same lines/phrases. Probably because I'd be the one writing it.

Thank you for bringing up another example of something that would get Me busted. Anytime that I present for any event/club/whatever that has a website, there is a possibility that I'll have a link to it in My profile. It's a very common practice for those of us who present on BDSM related topics and if we are talking about an event at national level and/or multiple day events, there are going to be several of us who have the same link to the event. Same goes for the folks putting the event together.

Again, I'll have to ask the folks who are more experienced with code and programming. How are you going to distinguish those of us who have a line in our profile to say that we will be presenting (for example) at event X and give the link from those who put in a link to direct someone to a pay site?

Certainly. I will share the reasons/complaints I've encountered from clients I've done similar work for in the past.

1) Advertisers want accurate member counts. Artificially inflating your member base can cost you money and your sites credibility.
2) Fake accounts that upload images use up valuable storage and bandwidth, which cost you money.
3) If the object of a personals site (even a BDSM one) is to grow its member base (which it is), ensuring the accounts on your site are actual people should be an integral part of your business practice. Nobody wants to invest time wading through fake accounts and fake emails.
4) Exposing your members to these fake accounts leaves them vulnerable to phishing and other online scams will eventually lead to site abandonment. Not everyone is savvy enough to spot them. Being party to someone getting ripped off, even unintentionally, can hurt a site's reputation.
5) It hurts your credibility with the internet at large. I don't know any business owner who would enjoy googling his business only to find entire sites devoted to exposing the very fake accounts we're discussing here. I also don't know many business owners who would want to network their site with a site that can't keep a handle on this kind of activity. Circulation of traffic is the lifeblood of this business. I direct to you, you direct to me, we all make money.
6) Fake accounts can get you blacklisted with search engines and toolbars.

Those are just off the top of my head.

As some in the digital media world, I agree with the above. The thing is, I am sure the site owners already know this stuff, or should.

Perhaps it is not that important to them?

Would this not all depend on what is being ripped off and whose definition someone is using?

OK, so you are acting like a 2 yr old having a temper tantrum, raising your voice to no one who can help you rather than actually trying to accomplish something.

all resistances once started with 1 voice
we have great examples of that lately in the news..

I wonder why so many discussion turn so personal so fast.

OMG, this is not Norma Rae. It is a kink site. All resistances? Really??

In other words.... there isnt anything the site can do beyond vetting... and unless you are willing to start paying to use the site, thats not going to happen.

So, utilize your block feature and move on.

I do this for a living so yes, there are many things a site can do to. Keyword flagging, pattern recognition, challenge/response questions, etc.

And here you go; how you can help:

Seriously. How do you use a site where 95% of the messages and profile views you receive are CLEARLY spam accounts? At the very least they could flag accounts with the SAME URL in every profile description or members that claim to be "native american" and are clearly not.

Make room for me, Tazz.
Pst... some of us are native american. And yet I look "white".

Go figure.

Personally, I think a system should be developed so that the computer from which a spam account originates from can be tracked down and then the computer owner's home is attacked by an elite squad of individuals who will fill the home to the ceiling with banana pudding.

You are not in the data base. Nothing but fakes in our data base. You do not exist.
