I'm a renowned klutz. Usually people point at bruises and I crane my neck saying 'what bruise, I didn't know I have a bruise'. As a result, I can just do this anyway and people accept it.

right now I have bruises all up and down my legs from my vein issue. I'm sure people probably think someone abused me haha. So yeah, if you say it's a health issue or meds, no one bothers any further. If you say "sex accident" or "kinky sex" they just roll their eyes or snicker and no one cares.

I think people get a little self conscious about things, especially those who are not used to having bruises or playing. They think everyone knows what they're up to and they will be looked down upon. It's like when someone lies and they are afraid of getting caught in the lie.

Instead just don't be ashamed of your marks and remember, people don't care. They usually ask for one of two reasons....curiousity which after they ask it's not important or 2. conversation starter which means they really don't care. It was just something to say instead of awkward silence.

My response to fire cupping marks, "I got raped by a giant squid." That usually shuts people up pretty quick.

Yes. I had a really awesome time in NY in a mini ad halter, my "marks/bruises" were completely evident. I think I counted 47? Also had a few people come up and ask about them, and one couple was in the "scene". I had so much fun with it!

I think if you are oblivious to the marks, people don't notice them either. I don't think I have ever had anyone ask about bruises, and I change clothes at work. Of course, most people are very unobservant, and wouldn't notice a full body bruise if it was shoved under their noses. We just aren't that interesting to others. [:D]

I have bruises and marks all over my shoulders, chest and breasts. I wore a halter top dress today. We went out for brunch this morning and walked around the Harbor for a bit and not a single person said a word or even stared or anything.

Yeah, no one cares.

Hmm, my experience with people noticing bruises is quite different than the last two posters. I can think of four times off the top of my head when people noticed bruises and got upset or concerned. I used to tell partners - not where my coworkers will see, and when I lived with my mother for the summer after I returned to MA - not where I'm tan.

I've only had one person ever question them...a nurse. But once I laughed and told her kinky sex, she rolled her eyes and just laughed.

I trained doctors and police on the difference between wiitwd and abuse. I did once go for acupuncture with words written on my body... the doctor smirked before I realized what he was looking at.

Bruises .. no

My sub at the time was wearing cuffs on the way home on a long drive. We stopped at a truck stop so she could use the restroom. She came back laughing because a couple of young men whispering pointed at her. It was only then that she realized she had forgotten to remove her cuffs.
