I know it was a joke. I was just curious if there was a term for someone between being a "newbie" and someone who is "experienced". That's all.

How does the members of the "Lifestyle" define someone who is a "newbie" and someone who has some limited experience? I don't pretend to claim I have decades of experience at this as I am only a few decades old. But I don't think I would consider myself a "newbie" at this point either. This "journey" didn't start for me last night. This really has been a "lifelong" process for me ever since I was a kid. I didn't know there a "name" for how I felt back then but thanks to the internet, I realized what I was experiencing wasn't anything new. At 31 years old though, I am getting away from the "fetish only fantasies" and trying to move more into "real time". That for me would mean I would like to become more involved with the BDSM community by being of service or "volunteering" my time at the local BDSM club.

It was a joke.. as she described herself as a newbie. I meant no harm in the use of that here. And I dont think she took offense. [:)]

I never will consider myself "experienced". I learn something new everyday. There are people who are experienced in things I have never contemplated. There are things I maybe more experienced in than others. But, overall, is anyone truly "experienced" in everything? if they say yes...ahem

TNDommeK -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 9:39:13 AM)

I'm experienced in chocolates. Just saying.
[:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 10:00:28 AM)

goodgirlmary -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 10:46:51 AM)

No offense taken.

goodgirlmary -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 10:47:58 AM)

I take into account clues like "I'm new to this", or they're a teenager, or that they've just joined (new to CM) or they've been here awhile but only making their first posts (new to forums). But mostly the first, that they say they are - ie, it's not me doing the defining.

In "Ask a Master" about 2 years ago, I still remember the 18yo with 8yrs experience as a Master starting a topic. It's possible I'm no stranger to newbie bashing, myself. But that's different; it must be ok if I'm indulging.... Of course, the entire thread got Mod nuked - and I don't mean locked.

Focus.

I think that focus may be right about the youngsters...some of the messages I get talk about school and I really dont care for that. Sheltered, sure.but Im a grown woman with a career.I think I present young somehow and do they think I am.

But newbies generslly deserve their bashings. I did

TNDommeK -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 2:52:48 PM)

If I remember, I don't think you got bashed. You went the correct way of doing things.
There's no hazing just bc your a newb.

goodgirlmary -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 3:50:35 PM)

I do not feel the haxing thing is legit. I got a welldeserved stern wakeup call, without which Id probably still be trying to figure out if my dom hated pink nailpolish or whatever. But again, a huge chunk of that was the handiwork of poor multiplayer planning, but again,I was wrong and thinking wrong. In private messaging though, there I got a bit of a bashing. That being said, how can you hold me accountable for something dumb I said three days ago..bahaha.I mean really, that is over a hundred messages ago...sheesh,Im here too much...but I was not bashed for newness, just doing something trashy, which I did do,so again, deserved it!

goodgirlmary -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 5:18:21 PM)

Although,id love it if people would stop rubbing my nose in mymistake once Ive accrpted the responsibiliy.im pretty good with being reprimanded, but at this point, I feel like its time to spank or move on. Grrrrrrrr.

tazzygirl -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 6:52:05 PM)

I bookmarked this page so, when you do get mad at me for disagreeing with you on some thread in the not too distant future, I can remind you of those words. [:D]

TNDommeK -> RE: Mob Mentality (6/17/2013 7:32:28 PM)

I think the good thing about us is, when we disagree, that's all it is. It's not like we hate each other.

But then again, I could be wrong, I might be on hide from everyone and having convos with myself, lol.[;)]
