Actually, it does. If they have been triaged and they are waiting to be seen in the ER, then the hospital has determined that their condition is serious enough for an ER treatment.

Its no longer questioned that they are "nonserious" issues. Except by people with no medical background who think they know more than the hospital.

I wonder if a system of affordable/subsidized outpatient clinics would be a significant help to the problem of ER overcrowding, if the PPA doesnt help.

I am arguing the post... I never once said anything about you.

So this isnt an ad hominem attack.

Do you have a medical degree?

No.

Therefore, you are not qualified to determine who needs ER treatment and who does not. What may seem like a simply cold to you could actually be a severe disease process compromising airway, heart, lungs. Unless youa re qualified to make such a diagnosis, you are working with a severe lack of knowledge of the person's conditions and have no business practicing medicine without a license.

And you still dont answer. So its a rational assumption you do not. In this country, practicing medicine without a license is a criminal offense. You based your assumptions on a knowledge base you do not have, as evidenced by you obvious decision to not answer a straight forward question.

What credentials do you possess to make the medical decision that anyone isnt deserving of medical treatment in an ER?

Until you can answer that question, you are simply talking with a knowledge base, making assumptions on people you do not know, about things you cannot possibly diagnose.

If you wish to view that as an attack, go for it. Its a factual statement.

Thanks for the link, tazzy. Isnt it perplexing we see NGOs providing medical clinics in Africa or Asia (not that I begrudge that) but our own citizens have to go to ERs? Well, not preplexing if we consider we really have no integrated healthcare system beyond Medicare.

Running from the discussion as usual. When you can back up what you claim, do let me know. Until then you do not have the ability to diagnose someone by simply looking at them and determining that they simply have a cold, or a cough, and do not need treatment.
