Actually,

When bdsm was for the few people made their own LEATHER goods, and it was only metal smiths that did anything with metal, most did everything with leather, and its how the leather protocols have been handed down

I am allergic to morons who try to promote BDSM history with out knowing shit...

Im also allergic to fish and onions... and thankfully have no issues with anything bdsm related.

As long as there have been instruments to examine pussy and asshole, this instruments have been in BDSM, or SM as it was nemed before BDSM

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: BDSM Allergies (6/24/2013 7:46:07 PM)

The use of Speculums in play is one form of play ONE...

I speak only of America and what i have learned from my community elders and Most of the Elders Ive had the pleasure of learning from, Speculums werent something the talked about using... . They talked about how they made their leather goods........ These of course are only the few elders ive had the pleasure to learn from, however being so Close to New Jersey and Baltimore and New York (Lady Pact will probably get the reference of who I learned I have had the pleasure to learn from) Logistically I have had some pretty awesome Elders that i have been able to learn from....

LEATHER you know that thing That Most of the lifestyle has its history on, was what was mostly used, in collars, in cuffs, in vests, in boots, in caps, in toys...

In fact i have a hand made pair of cuffs from Someone that she had made for someone special in her life in the 70s who then return them to her to be gifted on.

if you ever have the pleasure of coming to America, id recommend you check out the Carter Johnson Leather Library, and or the Leather Archive Museum.

Other then that, I really have not heard of many using much of any sort of metal until the 80s or so

Austenitic is the most common steel you will find in your everyday life. Austenitic stainless steel. Constitute by far the largest amount (~ 80%) of stainless steel used. This makes it common in my book!
Yes ther is a lot of different stainless steel alloy, but you will not finde them in sex toy

Austenitic stainless steel is a family of products consisting of all the 300 series stainless steels we've been talking about as well as low nickel 200 series products.

quote:

ORIGINAL: hrxxx
So my conclusion after I have answered your worthless wikipedia information, there are four types of stainless steel which is used in BDSM / Sex toys
Surgical steel safe
Stainless slål unsafe
Krome / iron very unsafe
Chrome / brass very unsafe

I think you mean four types of metals and I'd dispute that as well, aluminium toys immediately come to mind. And the Chinese have been passing off 200 series as 300 series for a while. With all the cheap Chinese sex toys on the market I'd expect there to be quite a few generic "stainless steel" products with very low nickel content certainly you should expect the all generic stuff to have a lower nickel content than 316 (surgical stainless steel).

You only see one play with speculums, if you use your imagination a little you should be able to see more, and one doctor has more than speculums in his bag,
And ther is also dental equipment, such as seaweed and open mouth gag. I guarantee you that the first sadist who got an open mouth gag in his / her mouth, has asked the doctor about where you could buy one!
And the first sadist with a riding crop in hand he / she did not think about whip horses .

If you want to learn about BDSM story, I suggest you start with the beginning and read the Marquis de Sade and Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.

If you want to learn about sadism in USA and I suggest that you find books with slave report from before 1860 in the south states, when you find stories of torture and extreme abuse, then it's done by a sadist, and yes the slaves did not submit willingly but nevertheless was the person who exercised torture and abuse a sadist.

Journey through BDSM story is long and can be difficult to understand, but you learn a lot! Believe BDSM history started in 1971 is ignorance
I have learned that I am SMBD now you can think about means maybe you can learn something.

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: BDSM Allergies (6/24/2013 11:43:20 PM)

I don't have any bdsm allergies, now, I am allergic to dust mites, so naturally I wouldn't want someone putting something dusty near my face, or shaking it out near me or on me, but that's not bdsm specific.

hrxxx -> RE: BDSM Allergies (6/25/2013 12:52:59 AM)

Iron / chrome and brass / chrome is most common as fake Stainless steel it is 25% of the price of stainless steel. I looked bondage anal hook for 5 usd wholesale, the price of raw materials thats is the same worldwide oil, metal, rubber, so if you see something below cost then it's probably fake. I have looked at a Danish site that you can buy a nickel test your pharmacist to test the piercings, so I guess it can be used for sex toys

it could be if you met someone who would shut you up in a dusty box :)

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: BDSM Allergies (6/25/2013 2:36:01 AM)

Okay Slavery in the 1800s and Slavery in the bdsm lifestyle are two different things, I understand that the leather lifestyle started in the 40s and 50s...

However you...are not worth the time nor the effort of disputing, That would require you to understand that NONCONSENSUAL SLAVERY ISNT THE SAME AS CONSENSUAL SLAVERY

When you get that grasped under your belt... Let me know

And the book i had the pleasure of reading from the 1400s from the carter johnson leather library... was about the use of leather... not metal...

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: BDSM Allergies (6/25/2013 3:45:16 AM)

If you disagree, I think you should discuss it with FDA and ASTM and not me

FDA and ASTM aren't the ones here pretending to be "masters" of steel and passing out misinformation, or I would be.

You claimed this:

quote:

Stainless steel has a higher concentration of nickel than surgical stainless steel and are therefore more unsafe to use

Since the alloys that most often fall under the banner of "surgical" steels generally have a higher nickel concentration than other stainless steels, it seems to directly contradict your proclamation. How do you explain that?

quote:

Can you show me, sex toy with nickel free steel? I would very much like a link to that, as i have never seen that before, and i would like to buy nickel free sex toy.

Ring of Steel now manufactures all of their steel collars from nickel-free stainless due to nickel sensitivity concerns from their customers. Are there others? I don't know. It's not a particular concern of mine so it's not something I seek out. I only know about RoS because I've known Vad for years and own some of his products.

quote:

If stainless steel is polished, then you can not tell the difference.

Perhaps you can't.

This is what I've been trying to get across a couple of times now. He's sort of correct in that "surgical stainless steel" is a good choice but I don't know how to be more clear that his explanation of why is the opposite of true.

I can't say I've found this difficult either. And I certainly wouldn't follow his advice of scratching off part of the protective coating if one suspects they're looking at chrome.

The issue is not your clarity, it's his understanding. I fear there may never be a consensus with the parties involved.

Well, we're just not Masters of Metal. What do we know?

I've only been machining and fabricating for about 27 years but maybe one day I too can be a Master.

As I wrote before surgical stainless steel are acid resistant. My guess is when the steel is acid resistant gives it less nickel than when it is not. ie when the acid can not enter in the steel, the steel can sure not come out in acid or your body (Titanium is also used in implants, but have not seen a titanium dildo yet)
But since you are so wise after you have found your information on wikipidia, I think you need to take deep breathe, and write a mail to FDA, ASTM, EU Here you can tell them that you have found a new alloy that you consider that more safe than 316LVM ASTM F-138'-alloy acid resistant, you can just post the answer you get here. I would like to se it

I do not understand why you continue to write about other alloys of steel, do you have some sex toys of another alloy?
Do you know where you can buy sex toys of another alloy or nickel free?
Do you know where there is a sex shop web site, as in the type of stainless steel sex toys they sell?

When you're talking about other types of alloys, so here are a few things to think about what is the replacement for nickel?
Is it more dangerous than nickel?
Why is it not used as surgical steel?
Does it cost more? (As example, stainless steel with titanium which is almost nickelfree)
Is it a rare alloy?

A Chinese factory that makes cheap sex play toy will they
A) Spend more money on materials?
or
B) Spend less money on matrials?

You do not have to convince me that you are using the correct nickel free sex toy so you can look yourself in the eyes,
