BamaD -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 6:33:23 PM)

Christy's chances were hurt real bad when he started praising Obama the week before the election.

Moonhead -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 6:41:45 PM)

Quite. Fuck the fact that he appears to be a live action version of Peter off Family Guy, it's palling up to the Kenyan that's the problem.
This sort of attitude is exactly why the Republican party needs a saviour in the first place, innit?

tazzygirl -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 6:50:27 PM)

Chances of Christie flipping after his election?

Moonhead -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 6:56:42 PM)

Depends on how you define "flipping": flippety flopping on the few grudging compromises he's made towards allowing raped women having an abortion, or just flipping out like Tom Cruise on a chat show?

tazzygirl -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 6:57:54 PM)

Flipping parties. lets face it, the GOP will never support him in the primaries.

Moonhead -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 7:02:09 PM)

Would the other lot have him at this point, though?

tazzygirl -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 7:06:54 PM)

That would be interesting as well. Maybe Independent?

Moonhead -> RE: Republicans who can save the party in 2016 (6/24/2013 7:41:08 PM)

Perhaps. It's hard to imagine him doing anything else if he does leave the GOP: the Teabaggers have enough misogynistic idiots already, after all.

Come on the whole point of this thread is the belief that the Republicans have to become Democrats or they are doomed.

That's a fallacy that is spread by the ignorant Bible thumpers and TEAnuts who got their asses kicked by the most ineffective president in generations.

the Republicans have to at least be willing to talk to Democrats and god forbid compromise on some things to win.

That would be easier if the Democratic position wasn't be reasonable do it our way.
We have to pass this bill to find out what's in it ---- Nancy Pelosi

Militance on one side enables militance on the other.

Way back during Clinton's first term, the "My way or the Highway" politics were begun by Newt and Rush.
That cost Bob Dole the election.
The more militant the losing side gets, the more emboldened the winning side becomes. Had the R side shown signs of moderation, there is no way in hell the Dems would foisted Pelosi on us.
The R side has only won the popular vote once since Bush I was in office. Einstein noted that "the surest sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
By that standard, the Republican party is insane indeed.
They beat their Bibles and piss off over half the country and lose. What is their solution?
Beat the Bibles even harder and piss off more people.

Considering I started this thread.... you are wrong.

I gave what I believe to be an honest list of those being considered, at least by the party at large.

I discussed a few, pointed out what I believed was issues and not just issues for the Dems.

Many GOP members are saying Christie is a no go because of the primaries. That has nothing to do with the Democratic party.

But it has been speculated that he may flip... though I dont see the Dem party taking him in at this point.

How does any of that make this thread about "the Republicans have to become Democrats or they are doomed. "?

I think they missed the one person that can bring the Republicans to the White House...Bobby Jindal...I think he could be the next Obama

And we can go back to the Bork conformation hearings.

I just stated my intentions. To actually have a discussion about these prospects. I would thank you not to infer what you may or may not believe those intentions are since you obviously do not seem to understand the op or the fact that, with few exceptions, no one has really trashed any candidates.

Bachmann, Trump... well.... thats to be expected.

Now, do you want to add to the discussion or simply sit back and complain about the Democrats, which isnt the OP here?

Or, you can start a thread on the Democrats likely to run for the office.

Either way works for me.

Sorry my friend he is the darling of many moderates and has a good head on his shoulders. Like Obama for the Democrats Jindal is a people person and comes off as compromising and sensible. The Republican party is looking for someone not marred by the rabid partisan attacks of the past. He is the perfect fit for the NEW Republican party... One of action and resolve not obstructionism.
