It certainly doesn't hurt to eliminate things like wheat from your diet. I'm a diagnosed celiac sufferer, which means I get sick if I eat glutens but like kalikshama said, many people deal with asymptomatic varieties of wheat intolerance. I eat huge quantities of food to try and keep weight on but none of those foods have glutens in them. For me, once I stopped eating glutens, amongst other things, I stopped having brain fog, random mood swings and bouts of depression. Would I eat glutens if I could? probably not. The problem is, things such as wheat are exceptionally addictive because of the high levels of Glutamic acid, a natural flavour enhancer which drives us to consume more of the same. Its a stodge food that doesn't make us feel full. Coming off glutens is fairly tough at first because you have to re-educate your entire diet plan. So many things you don't expect to contain glutens do :( and gluten free products are fairly expensive if you don't get food prescriptions. Cutting down is probably a better option.
