MasterCaneman -> RE: caffeine and sugar ween (6/30/2013 6:20:24 PM)

No one took anything from me. At the time, I usually carried a couple hundred on me, and when I came to, I had maybe a hundred-fifty and some change. I was functioning normally, because I woke up in a truck stop diner having breakfast. My bike was parked outside, and everything I carried on me was where it was supposed to be. I just had no idea how I'd gotten there, and when I found out the date I knew there was a problem. I fixed it. It's never happened again.

A fugue state that lasted two weeks? I hope to God you stopped doing whatever you were doing or started doing whatever you were supposed to. That's an extremely long time.

MasterCaneman -> RE: caffeine and sugar ween (6/30/2013 6:58:22 PM)

Oh yeah I did. As I said before, it was a wake-up call. When I got home, I went to my doctor and he read me the riot act. I'd been awake for far too long, was doing too many things, had a lot of other stressers on my mind at the time, and I wasn't taking care of myself properly. That was 24 years ago, haven't had an episode since.

Again,thank gosh you are okay!

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine and sugar ween (7/1/2013 11:19:58 AM)

Ok soo quick update. I took the advice and ran it through my brain and came up with allowing myself one cup of coffee for the first three days. I had one yesterday, but did not finish it. Instead I pretty much slept all day and laid around. I cant swallow too much anyway, as surprise, stupid dr was wrong, second doctor says mono.(side rant: if doctors would just listen to nurses, seriously).so, Im off for the week anyway.still trudging through.
I had less than half of an iced coffee today. Im obviously sick anyway, so cant say how much is withdrawal or how much is sick. Forcing myself to eat. Laying around.thank god for this forum, television is dreadfully awful mind rot. So, thanks for the encouragement, and the pms (love chatting with the this side people).
i miss work though. I always have such big plans for my off time and instead Im sleeping and forum posting.smh. you guys rock! I will be less in your hair soon,no worries!

FrostedFlake -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/1/2013 11:05:42 PM)

Good coffee doesn't need cream or sugar. I used to. I don't anymore. Because I (this is the tricky part) drink coffee I like, made the way I like it. A lot of folks don't get that, and just keep on making weak coffee.

The other thing is, a can of pop a day adds up to 15 pounds of fat in a year. Coke has 150 calories a can. A doughnut has 200 calories. It's the same idea. If you are not paying attention, this can be a problem.

Then there is that notion that diabetes is a disease you get from sugar. The best way to avoid diabetes is, ...you know the rest. But coffee is another thing. You get the energy boost sugar is so popular for without the calories, because caffeine has none. There may be good reason to consider caffeine and sugar separately, and not cut them out at the same time as if they were at all alike.

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/2/2013 4:41:19 AM)

It was seriously out of control. But Im off now anyway, and pretty much incapable of my "do when off" list. So, atbleasr Im getting something done. I feel horrible, but nothing zthat I imagine is worse than mono.so im either getting off scoyt free or mildly, OR the fun hasnt started yet.

MasterCaneman -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/2/2013 6:43:41 AM)

Caffeine withdrawals aren't bad. You get cranky, have a headache, and are a little bleary. Once you start eating right, your energy levels go right back up. One or two cups a day are fine, and what Frosted Flake said is true. My mom put on 20 lbs drinking one can of pop a day for a year. And mono sucks, hope you feel better soon. And you're right about doctors not listening to nurses. Most MDs I've met (and believe me, I've met a lot) can be arrogant, entitled assholes. Have a good one, Mary.

DesFIP -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/2/2013 6:53:17 PM)

Mono, how horrible. Go to bed and stay there. Really, that's the best thing you can do.

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/2/2013 8:21:08 PM)

I have beeninbed for days! Hate it!

MistressDarkArt -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/2/2013 11:19:00 PM)

Hang in there, Mary. We're here for you.

I second desFIP earlier in the thread: protein!!! Lots of it. Together with a vitamin B supplement will be your ticket out of sugar and caffeine hell.

Sounds like you're on your way, but in case you're still in process remember there's no need to go off both at the same time unless you're a complete masochist. [:D]

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/3/2013 4:21:37 AM)

Well, masochism aside, im sick anyway. May as well kill all the birds.
I allow myself one tea or coffee for right now,but i basically just want my pop,

Thankyou fuys for yoursupport.i dont eat a lot of protein,but maybe i canstart making protein shakes ;

ShaharThorne -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/3/2013 5:37:25 AM)

Just rest up and I know what you mean about doctors needing to listen to the nurses...Mom is a former LVN and when she gets something, she goes to the doctor and makes recommendations...try having a UTI and pneumonia at the same time.

Right now, I am POed at my doctor for not letting me have orange juice, but it causes UTIs for me...

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/3/2013 7:04:22 AM)

It does that for some people.its the acid.if you are really hard up for it, what about a small glass of KIDS orange juice.

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (7/4/2013 10:05:12 AM)

Ive tried adding protein. Im still so flipping exhausted and the headacge is miserable. Im pretty surprisedI havent cheated since people keep shoving it in front of me and telling me not to be a martyr.
Ive been thinking long and hard about things to cut. I dont know how much of this is from simple lack of caffeine and sugar, andhow much of it is from being sick addituonslly. Guess it doesnt matter though really.

Doesanyone have anyenergy ideas?

Desperate,
Mary
