farglebargle -> New Texas Law Closes ALL BUT FIVE GUN SHOPS... (7/5/2013 5:57:46 AM)

In the interest of making things safer for gun purchasers, new strict requirements force all but FIVE gun stores to close.

The Second Amendment and Supreme Court case law isn't affected. This is just to safeguard gun purchasers, gun store owners, and the unborn.

Okay, I dont know where you got your information, but the following is true:

1) Texas has passed no new gun legislation since May of this year.

2) The gun laws passed in May were pro gun, even exempting the state from any federal ban on assault rifles.

3) If you think that the state of Texas will ever pass any legislation that will restrict, ban or otherwise change the availability of guns in this state, I have a bridge in San Francisco and some beach front property in Nevada to sell you.

This will prove to be a great business opportunity for all those who brew moonshine in them thar hills! They can now expand their business by gun running as well.

How much does a stake in them thar hills cost? And can you eat the cattle that roams thereabouts free of charge?

I think he is trying to be clever an abortion bill was supposed to shut down all but five clinics in one state. He want pro gun people to declare how unfair this is the turn the tables.
Could be giving him too much credit.

Dyfrynt -> RE: New Texas Law Closes ALL BUT FIVE GUN SHOPS... (7/5/2013 10:56:03 AM)

Jif, I'm fairly sure the OP was using just a touch of sarcasm. As someone mentioned, the state of Texas wants to pass a bill that would be so restrictive that all but 5 of the state's abortion clinics would fail to qualify and have to close.

I find the spoof Argle made hilarious. It proves the hypocritical way governments work nowadays. As you said, if any state even proposed such an act against guns, the outrage would be uncontrollable. But these same folks see nothing wrong with gutting another law of the land.

For those that dont know, here are a few facts.

1) Texas is predominately Republican.

2) Texas is deep in the bible belt, the only religion that is bigger than Christianity is High School football, that may be a part of the form of Christianity
practiced in the state.

3) The town I live in typical of Texas cities, for a population of 117000, there are 150 major churches.

4) Until Governor Perry redrew the Districts, Abilene was one of 4 Democrat districts in the state, now it is a Republican district.

5) in other words, you can forget about Texas doing anything pro choice is insane

There seems to be only one poster on the thread in need of help jlf [:)]

jlf1961 -> RE: New Texas Law Closes ALL BUT FIVE GUN SHOPS... (7/5/2013 4:48:33 PM)

I realize the op was being sarcastic, however his ploy to get the pro gun people involved as saying how unfair it is was a poor choice. Any gun owner in the United States knows that Texas is the most Pro gun state in the United States.

Hell the law passed in May allows those college students old enough to get a concealed carry permit to carry at school, in classes.

As for the law restricting abortions and possibly closing ALL the abortion clinics in the state until new standards are met, this is Texas, did you really think that a new abortion law would not be restrictive as hell?

Come on, 57.19% of the population are Republican.

Democrats and liberals are endangered species in this state, unless you fall in the moderate democrat camp, then you are tolerated... granted they would prefer to implant RFID GPS trackers in us, but so far they havent passed that bill yet.

Look the Christian right has the belief that if they make abortions harder to get, women will stop getting them,

It is sort of like the anti gun people who seem to think if guns are harder to get, criminals and mass shooters wont get them,

Which in turn is like the idea that if we make narcotics and pot illegal, people wont have access to those substances,

Anyone see a connection in the thought processes here?

Yes. Insanity. And a desire to control and retain power.

And insanity.

REAL Libertarians would never run for political office! That's how you can spot the Fake Libertarians. If they advocate participating in the pointless political process, they're not a real one!

jlf1961 -> RE: New Texas Law Closes ALL BUT FIVE GUN SHOPS... (7/7/2013 5:45:38 AM)

Okay, first off I had a bad night last night, so at this point I dont give a fuck who I offend.

First of all, scream, yell do whatever you want to protest, we are talking about Texas, one of the most conservative, backward, bible thumping, god fearing, Sunday morning Christian states in the fucking United States.

I know, I live here.

I do not agree with the law, I think it is stupid, it denies women the right to make a choice. Unless a successful case is made and it is struck down by SCOTUS, the law is going to stand.

There are not enough liberals in the state to change that. There is not enough moderate Republicans in the state to band with the liberals to change it.

As I said in a previous post, I am a realist. And the reality is that until the Republican party gets it through their collective granite skulls that women have the right to make choices concerning their reproductive health, nothing is going to change. Or at least comes up with an effective way to get them to compromise on their theocratic holier than thou moral stand when the truth is that they are just as vice ridden as the rest of us.

Lets face it, I have seen many of these upright christian men who preach the family value, anti abortion rhetoric at the top of their lungs on Sunday, and during the daylight hours of every other day, shut the collective mouths and drop a few hundred in a strip club in the evening.

Another signifier for fake Libertarians is making excuses for Presidents who remove their civil liberties and expand the powers of Government, because said Presidents aren't liberals.
Dearie me.
