It's one thing for Kerry to be on his boat, it's another thing to lie about it.

John Kerry on his boat during Egypt upheaval, State Dept. concedes

Good Lord. What an incredibly stupid thing to lie about!

DomKen -> RE: The President's always on duty & is always POTUS... But Sec of State? (7/6/2013 11:54:54 AM)

What an incredibly stupid thing to care about.

What precisely was our Secretary of State going to do in regards to a coup in Egypt?

TheHeretic -> RE: The President's always on duty & is always POTUS... But Sec of State? (7/6/2013 12:21:19 PM)

Obviously, the location of the Secretary of State must remain a closely guarded secret. They'll need to track down and prosecute the traitor who took the picture and leaked it.

lol maybe stop sending money? [:D]

I think its really just a case of if we (the US) pretend its not a coup, then they (Egypt) can still get the billion in US bucks and still be our (US) friends.. so Kerry being on a boat is really just his way of playing pretend everythings still ok..

His job?

Quite. And he does it very well.

Give the man a medal.

And his job in regards to a coup in another country is what exactly?

Secret. (If it was meant to be public knowledge, he would have stayed in the White House.)

It would seem, and the less he could do the more true this is, why lie about it.

It was stupid to lie about it but I do have to wonder why anyone was even asking. Senior officials even when on vacation are going to be in contact with their staff if something major comes up. Does it matter if Kerry was on a boat during some of those calls?

Just checked CNN. They said someone posted a tweet claiming to see him on the Yacht and he issued a denial.
Now he says he was on top of the Egypt situation while on the Yacht.

Why couldn't he say that in the first place, does he like lying to the public that much (based not on his party but the fact that he is in politics) .

As I said the action isn't the problem the moronic lie is.

Like it or not (and I don't), we live in a world with with round-the-clock "news" outlets looking to fill time with any crap they can rustle up. That creates a market for anyone with a camera and an agenda trying to score points off the other side.

Given that, it's all the more insane for anyone to assume s/he can lie and get away with it. It seems particularly boneheaded for State to do that now. It's not as if the administration lacked threats to its credibility already.

Exactly Like when Gary Hart dared reporters to prove he was having an affair, a week later he was out of the Presidential race. 88 for those who don't remember.

Just more partisan bullshit.

If Kerry directed the State's spokesperson to lie about where he was and what he was doing he should be fired. That's just too stupid to tolerate.

and if the spokes person took it upon himself to lie I'd get rid of him if I were Kerry

People. PEOPLE. PEOPLE! Let's remember; he's a navy man. His love of boats is well documented; especially more enjoyable when not running away from automatic weapons fire.

John Kerry is an up-standing US citizen and public servant. It's not like he'd ever belong to a group that marches under a communist banner or anything. He especially wouldn't do it while we're at war with a communist country. He especially wouldn't do it while still an officer in the naval reserve. He certainly wouldn't appear in front of a joint hearing (I think) of congress and declare himself a war criminal. Let's remember the history of the man and maybe it will cast a different light on his job performance and his honesty about it.

Can we stop this insanity now and get on with the "It's Bush's fault" posts, please?

Peace and comfort,

Michael
