Well, I'm from 100% Russian stock myself. But as Robin Williams said in a movie I can no longer remember the title of, "Speaking Russian makes my mouth hurt!" So I keep it to monosyllables, like 'da' and 'nyet' and the universal 'oooooooooooooo!!!'

For some reason, I keep getting flashbacks to the Friends episode where Ross had to learn to talk dirty. I can say random Russian stuff in a sexy(-ish) voice. Would that work?

Since I don't understand Russian, it doesn't matter. Pretty much anything Russian or with a Russian accent even gets me going. The hockey thing is a bonus. I have also found Russian men to be very stoic when surrendering/suffering which makes such a fascinating challenge. I don't know if it's a culture thing. I went through a whole psychological phase with a boytoy of Russian decent where I could not figure out why his 'begging' in Russian still sounded....demanding. It was ridiculously addictive.

It probably is. Did you know that Gene Roddenberry based Klingons on Russians? True story!

To keep the thread on topic: would this look okay at the end of the paragraph with my BDSM preferences? "My hard limits include CBT, AB/DL, scat, minors/animals, Justin Bieber, Ayn Rand, Twilight and the Efficient Market Hypothesis."

Not a lot of people know this, but "50 Shades of Grey" actually started out as Twilight fanfiction, so it falls under that umbrella. I'm of the opinion that the less people talk about that series, the faster it'll go away. Think of it as a literary version of "don't feed the trolls."

I think it's safe to list hard limits, but some people will be turned off by you suggesting that child and animal abuse has anything to do with BDSM. I'm one of those people, but even I can overlook mentioning something that should be common sense if the rest of the profile is well done.

(Posting this in the "Ask a Mistress" subforum because, well, my question is specifically for Mistresses.)

I've spent years trying to come up with a perfect profile description. I tried being both brief and verbose, laconic and sesquipedalian, emotional and logical. I believe I've struck a pretty good balance with this particular self-description and I would like to get your take on it. Assuming you were in the market for a new sub, would this profile get your attention? If not, why? What would you change or delete? Please don't hold back - all opinions are welcome. Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't worry about the perfect profile. In my experience, profiles have a shelf life. After a certain point, pretty much everyone who might be interested in you has seen it, and everyone you might be interested in you've reached out to. At that point, it's sometimes useful to just delete the profile and try a different approach, because even the profile that is "perfect" for someone you might be interested in won't resonate with someone else you might also be interested in. But you can write a different profile that is an equally valid reflection of you and a whole new crop of people who didn't the first one will respond -- the online world is weird that way.

I am not a domme but I think you're profile is fine. Your looks, personality, interests, and sense of humor won't appeal to everyone, of course. But I think you do a good job of presenting yourself well.

I'm starting to turn into a corporate gypsy... The relocation bonuses are always large, and moving to another state and a brand new scene seems more efficient than try to go through all the kinksters in a particular area in hopes of finding that one compatible person who may not even exist there. I admit that I could be wrong, but that's my strategy for the time being.

Thank you for your feedback! :)

I'm sure that this is just seething jealousy on my part.

But.... can I, gently, suggest that you might want to be just the tiniest little bit careful not to come across as a teensy bit too full of yourself? With someone as extrovert and literate as yourself, the line between "art" and "dick" can be a narrow one.

I speak as someone who has crossed that line a fair few times myself, I hasten to add.

That said... Fucking awesome profile.

Well, your profile is certainly a lot more laconic than mine!

And yes, I am indeed just a teensy bit too full of myself. It's a cross I have to bear, though hopefully I do a slightly better job of it than the douchebag with the boat from the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" remake. Like I said, in real life I mostly keep to myself and stay quiet unless I know the people I'm talking to fairly well. (Or if there's a really good conversation, but how often does that happen?) Online I'm even more myself than I am in real life, if that makes sense. Without somebody to put me in my place and make me eat humble pie, the ego tends to run wild...

That said, I still think I've got a fairly good balance of serious and pompous in my profile: paragraphs 1, 2 and most of 3 are serious; paragraph 4 is an ego trip; paragraph 5 is 50/50, and the last paragraph just seemed like a good way to end the profile. (Doesn't it bug you when you finish reading somebody's profile and it just ends without any closure or conclusion? It's like reading a Neal Stephenson novel!)

If more folks chime in and say I'm being kind of a dick in my profile, I'll probably alter it somewhat. Until then, I'll take it under consideration - thanks for your feedback, especially the last 3 words.
