yes, I know that it can be, but there is usually an end date to that also.. but I just doubt the family wants to go thru all of this again.. I could understand why the families did that with OJ.. but imo this has likely taken so much out of the family..

Status: offline 		I hope there are no riots. I can understand those that wish to engage in this type of behavior, but, by doing so, it will only make things worse. Much worse. Blacks--in particular--that choose this course of action will only serve to further confirm the negative stereotype that gives way to cases like this, which, in turn, will catalyze even more legal or lethal action against them.

They already got a settlement from the subdivision. I doubt they will go after him the case would be a tough one even with the lower standard of proof required in a civil suit.

Families do that when they dont want someone who killed their loved one to profit off that killing.

The Martin family’s lawyer, Benjamin Crump, has said he planned to file a separate lawsuit against Mr. Zimmerman at a later date.

I can't remember the last time I read/heard any news on a good Samaritan having these things happen. I have been reaching out to people for decades and never had anything bad happen to me and I am a tiny woman. I have had these things happen... well, some of them, but never in the course of a good deed.

Status: offline 		One of the biggest lies the media peddled (among many) was that the laws in Florida for self defense are in any major way different from the 'fear for your life' standard for the rest of the country... as shaped by the Supreme Court decades ago.
This was never a SYG case, either. On paper, the verdict could have been the same in any state.

It ain't living in fear. It's called the real world. Look it up. Incidents like that have happened. When I started driving in the mid 60's I was cautioned against picking up hitch hikers.
I remember my parents lamenting how a few year earlier it had been safe but no more.
