You ignore the obvious fact that Martin initiated the violent phase of the encounter making it clear cut self defense. ......................................... Nobody is ignoring that hallucination at all.

First one to use violence, that is a fact no matter how bad you want it to be otherwise.

I agree with you. There is bias here based on the love of guns by some and race. Many here cast the victim as the perp.

The legal standard for self defense doesn't define 'the aggressor' that way, and it doesn't remove the right of self defense merely for asking someone 'What are you doing'.. It is very plausible that Zimmerman wasn't quite the innocent bystander, it is very plausible that Martin acted on mistaken assumptions, and so on. But after all of the lead in... at crunch time, if it had been anyone on their back and they felt a hand clawing at the jacket over their holster. would it be reasonable for John Doe to feel in danger? Thank you for fixing your post and explaining. And, no, I dont have a low opinion of people... I am assuming you meant to add that to the end of your post and not in the middle... However, I do have a realistic view of people... especially mothers. That is neither placing them low, or high, its just an honest assessment. The belief that any jury can be completely impartial and leave their own lives outside the jury room is ridiculous even on face value.
