Oh, I dunno.. maybe the title of the youtube link that he gave?

Ya know... instead of determining who is "on sides" (especially after the way you bitch, moan and whine about you not taking sides) you might want to take a look around. I do believe it was me who took fargle to task recently.

Convenient memory lapse?

Well, they make some good points don't they?

"they"??? I'm an American expat living in Canada. The nature of my volunteer work leaves me talking to a lot of people. I haven't heard any Canadian express any of these sentiments.

The reality is that Canadians, as a rule, tend to be quite a bit more liberal than liberal Americans. At least they are in Victoria, BC.

But let's not let actual reality get in the way of a good political rant.

Jeff, again this was supposed to be a fun thread, not a political rant.

Next time get someone on the left to start the thread for you. I am guessing the replies would have a different tone to them.

wrong
but not unexpected.
Canadians are pissed off about this too, because it was attributed to a canadian, when that is bullshit.....Not RIGHT or LEFT, but dont let that piddly lil fact dispossess you of your one sided notions.

OMG the irony

Indeed... I waited 5 months to see a surgeon... but the yuppies cant wait "a few weeks"?

I feel so sorry for you, Lucy, having to wait all that extra time for services when Americans can go right in and see the physician of their choice... oops... my 5 month wait sorta proves that theory wrong. [;)]

I feel sorry for both of you if you truly believe that 2 examples tell us anything about either system.

I feel sorry for you if you believe that it was anything but a personal sarcasm chat between me n tazzy
if you had any intellectual honesty, you should know the difference
but you ignored the posts where we both mentioned time delays, and the difference in the lack of speciality clinics out of urban centers.
get over yourself again

My mistake. But I truly did miss the humor nature of it :) It was just an honest mistake. The more interesting conversation for me was this discussion of Canadians flocking to America for health care.

By the way, I do take a side. I like to think it's the side of freedom and constitutionality and good government. Sadly, neither of our two major parties agrees with me.

I have to admit, the only ways that the Canadians I have talked to think Canada is superior to the US are pretty pragmatic and I tend to agree. Largely they center around two areas, "military policy" and "social safety net". Other than that, the Canadians I talk to LIKE americans and america. They tend to have lots of American friends. They tend to know a fair degree about America. ROFL, it's the American expats who.. well.. are more vocal about how much they like Canada.

As you say, the "license plate" thing is an artifact of having so many border communities where "popping over the border" in either direction for this or that is pretty common. That's where that 56% day trip number comes from in my estimate.

The Canadians I've known or encountered (live or on the internet) run the gamut from decent, open minded and humble to arrogant, ignorant, nationalistic, crybaby (your girls lost the soccer game - deal with it) dickheads. Most, of course, fall somewhere in between... just like people everywhere.

I admit I am sensitive, and have a visceral reaction, to any kind of "I'm superior" thinking - doubly so if it is directed at me.

So sorry, I thought you were calling the first part of the post bullshit. I didn't realize you were referring to the link.

Your right, I should not have said right or left, I should have said more well liked, but yes I still believe had another poster made the same mistake the reaction would have been different.

Lucylastic -> RE: Canadian's top ten list about the U.S. (7/19/2013 2:07:01 PM)

thats down to the poster being "well liked"

Who is so well liked that no one would attack that piece of plagiarized mess?

I got my reading a bit garbled as I went through this thread and when I got to your post Tazzy, I though I was reading insinuations of hoards of poor Canadian medial refugees desperately seeking out what care they could find south of the border. Arguably at the top of my respect list on all Collarme is LadyPact and if she posted something which made me think that I'd have belly laughed also.

The original post I didn't even comment on because honestly it was too stupid to respond to in a meaningful way. I've never met a Canadian who thought any of that -- or at least who voiced it. As is true for pretty much the whole world, Canada is more left than left-wing american politics. Although, to be fair, our local chamber of commerce is lobbying to get corporations the vote. That sort of annoyed me so we'll see how that turns out but I'm hoping to put a stop to that.

Lucylastic -> RE: Canadian's top ten list about the U.S. (7/19/2013 8:59:25 PM)

Harper is trying for it, hopefully it wont get tooo far!

*nods* I know those elements are there. I still don't have a strong sense of the lay of the land but my gut says that, for now at least, Canadians still have souls.

Lucylastic -> RE: Canadian's top ten list about the U.S. (7/19/2013 9:05:10 PM)

Thats my feeling, and my hope.

tazzygirl -> RE: Canadian's top ten list about the U.S. (7/19/2013 9:07:52 PM)

I have discovered that when most post incendiary pieces here without linking a source to the piece, its because the source came from another blog site, from an NRA site, from a questionable news source or someone is trying to deliberately mislead people.

Not only did I find that list from a extremely right wing site, I discovered it had been hacked up, shortened, added too in spots, deleted from in spots.... and I am supposed to now believe that the person who posted it considered it humorous and nothing to take seriously. If that person wasnt ashamed of the information he was presenting, why not link it back to the source? We all post the stupidity that others may post on line... but.. really. The OP was an intentional swipe at not only liberals in this country, but was deliberately making the Canadians the originating cause of that swipe, trying to give it a legitimate air that it simply did not have.

This
Anyone who posts a bullshit piece, no matter, country, left or right
the backlash is fast n furious.
The usual response by the OP is to make it out to be a joke. Usually because facts are not a strong background in any of hhis posts
