And shouldn't you be defending the floaters who clearly were the ones with the right to stand their ground. They were in a public place when an armed man threatened them. All depends... if he shot into the gravel bar, he doesnt have a leg to stand on from my understanding. The gravel bars are considered public property.

Oscar Scott and his family of seven decided to go out for a nice Sunday visit to Bays Mountain Park in northeastern Tennessee. When it was time to go home, they thought it’d be nice to take the scenic route. After enjoying some scenery, they came across Bays Mountain Road and took it, curious to see if it would take them back to the park. After going a ways down the road, they noticed that the road became very narrow and turned in to what Scott described as “an old log road.” Figuring it was best to turn around, he put the car in reverse, and chaos ensued.

Margie Rhea Ramey saw the car go into reverse from her front porch, where she’d been sitting with a few other people. Sick of people who were “tearing up her driveway,” Margie started yelling. Before they even touched her driveway, Scott’s son asked “Does she got a gun?” and Margie opened fire on the SUV carrying five children, ages four to twelve. She fired two shots, one hitting close to where the children were seated in the car. Scott’s wife yelled to her that they were simply turning around, but ol’ Margie wasn’t having it. Scott put pedal to the metal and got them out of there as fast as he could and called the police.

Ramey was arrested and released on a $1,000 bond Sunday night. She is charged with seven counts of reckless endangerment.

The title of the article alone proves extreme bias on the part of the writer. No rational person would call this a responsible gun owner unless they are trying to paint all gun owners with the same brush.

A rash of equipment, farm supplies, and ATV burglaries were going on in two counties. Our ATV was stolen twice. First time, it was recovered, by a routine traffic stop and the vin numbers were checked, found it was stolen, and the guy went to jail for probation violation for 3 yrs. 5 months later the same ATV was stolen again! IT was never found. Luckily we had insurance. Both times they were stole in the middle of the night.
Approximately a month later, our neighbor had his ATV idoling by the side of his house, as he went in for something before he fed their animals. He hears the thing take off, and some guy is zooming down the lane toward the road. Our neighbor, jumps in his truck, with his rifle, chases the guy who takes off thru a field toward the creek, neighbor just starts driving thru the bean field on the other neighbors property to catch him, and pretty soon that neighbor is chasing after the guy with his ATV. They yelled for him to stop but he wasn't going too, so he was shot at a few times with buck shot. The ATV was found over the side of an eroded bank in the creek bed, There was so blood, and when the police got there, they had to go by ATV to examine the scene. The man was never found. THe blood was either from the wreck, buck shot, or both. BUt our neighbor didn't have insurance and he knew if he lost his ATV his life was going to get much harder. He did not threaten with a gun until he felt attacked. And yes we had people we had to run off our property, but a gun was never waved at them, unless they decided to refuse a peaceful ending. If someone would have entered our house, in the dark, or attacked from the start in other circumstances they probably would be shot.

Obviously you don't know how much newer ATV cost, try thousands of dollars, not hundreds. I am 100% serious, not joking. What do you suggest someone do, who had already had their home invaded and valuables stolen at an earlier time? Wave at them as they drive your lively hood,(uninsured btw because they couldn't afford it) down the road and Scream " I wish you would stop doing that" Wait 25 minutes for the police to arrive to give them the advantage and send the message "hey you all come on back, an stay a spell again and steal us blind"
This wasn't about someone just stepping on property or pulling down driveways, or smelling flowers, peeing, or simply trespassing, this was about sending a clear message, that your not going to have an easy time stealing someone elses hard work anymore.

You do realize that even juries have to determine whether intent is proved when there is no confession? The juries use logic and reason based upon the evidence presented.
