Is it appropriate to tell people with unnecessarily unreadable profiles here that their choice of background or font makes the profile extremely difficult to read?

Here's one, for example, of many, with a dark font on a dark background.
I've removed identifying portions just so that you can see what I'm talking about.

Is it just me or does everyone have a difficult time reading these profiles?
What do you do when you see them? Do you notify the owner?

I either skip them or else I block copy it all into a Word document, removing the formatting.

I just skip them. If the person who created the profile isn't careful or conscientious enough to create something readable, they likely wouldn't make a good partner for me.

Think of it this way, what if you were walking down the street one day and a complete stranger walked up to you and remarked that your tie was garish, your shoes lacked class, and you were wearing white after labor day? I bet you would tell that person where to get off, correct? On the other side, as long as a profile doesn't violate the terms of service, its not really your place to say how it looks. Maybe they really like bad colors and lousy spelling, and are looking for similar qualities in a mate. Maybe they just had a bad day, and that profile reflects it. Point is, if you go around criticizing people for their faults, at least on that side, you are going to be getting a lot of bans and blocks. Just see it for what it is, and move on

I do nothing, unless someone has specifically asked for my opinion or posted here asking why no one is responding to them.

I find it hard to believe that people don't notice it's hard to read luminous green text on a barbie pink background, so I assume they have decided that standing out from the crowd is the most important thing.

Most people don't appreciate unsolicited criticism, even if the giver means well.

It depends on many factors. First, even profiles that are hard to read because of similar font and background colors are actually very simple to make readable. Just left click and drag the cursor through the profile like you are going to copy and paste. The text gets highlighted and becomes very clear. I've seen profiles with black on black, and this method makes even those profiles very readable.

Then, it depends on what the person had to say. Most often they will have said nothing of interest to me and I just move on. It's really been no skin off my nose. If I like the person I might send a note, in a non-confrontational manner and let them know that I liked what they had to say, but I found the profile difficult to read and that they may have better results if they make certain changes.

Other times, if I found what they had to say to be insulting in some way I may be a bit more aggressive in my response to them, and I might include a response, not only to what they said, but also how they wrote it.

I try to keep in mind that some people like to create tests of different types, and something of that nature may be their way of weeding out whiners.

People tend to take offence at positive criticism, highlight it, read it probably move on.

I ignore those profiles, if they can't see that what they've chosen is not communicable to others, then I'm not up for the challenge of trying to get to know that person.

If I suspect it's a browser format issue (profiles formatted on one browser may sometimes read completely different on another browser) I'd let the know, but you can usually tell when that's the case (people accidentally end up with stuff like black on black, or something like that) instead of a deliberate harsh color choice.

I think that's definitely the case sometimes. Also, when people have a "standard" text in word that they schlepp into the dozen or so sites they're a member of there's a danger that the formatting gets wacky.

My personal take is that black on black (or purple on purple etc) profile text means one of a number of things.

1) The person cares so little about the reader that they just couldn't be arsed to fix it
2) The person thinks that they're being clever
3) The person thinks that they're being "ironic"

In all of the above cases, it's handy in a way - as none of these types are going to be my cup of tea.

Not everyone does it intentionally though. Take me for example. I use an iPad and can't get my text box to appear as anything else other than black on black. I thought maybe it was just something on my end and that others might see it okay, but someone messaged me to say they could not read it. So I put a copy in my journal because I can't fix it. I thanked the person.

It can never hurt to say something. If they are cool about it, you lost nothing. If they are a dick about it, you'll know they aren't someone you are interested in.

I will do the highlight option. Perhaps they accidentally clicked the wrong color and didn't check it. Who knows? But I'd hate to think I missed out on a perfect match bc I didn't at least try to read it.

If someone's profile is illegible, I assume that they don't know it, I write them and tell them politely. Since, as far as I know (not in Trinity's case, as it turns out) this is a fixable problem, it falls for me within the rule of when I would quietly say something to someone about a fashion faux pas - I would tell someone they had a run in their hose before we left, but not after we were at the party, for instance. If it can't be corrected, there's no reason to draw attention to it. If I believe it is probably correctable, and they probably don't know, I will write and tell them.

When I run into that, I simply highlight the text and that allows me to read it.

You should do what real alpha dominant masters do, completely rewrite the profile and provide them with your improved version and let them know that you are not just some wanker but are in fact a true alpha dominant master. It will really improve collarme.

UHh. If they are not careful and concise in their profile enough to get their point across when creating their "First Impression". Really! I have zero time for them. Grammar DOES count. It's like going on a first date with mismatched shoes. You look like a "complete dolt"

I just pass them a simple note letting them know I read their profile and highlight on what I liked about it, but also let them know its hard to read and why.

If I see something like this and I want to read the profile, I will copy it and paste it into word, highlight the copy and press normal. Takes about 10 seconds. That's if I care enough to do it. I generally won't bother to alert the person;

I wouldn't say it's inappropriate. But, I wouldn't put the effort into doing it either.

I treat profiles I can't read because of text colors the same way I treat those I can't read because they type like tHiS, or that I can't read because it appears that English isn't even the writer's second or third language, or that I can't read because the first few sentences set off my Bullshit Alarm like the red alert klaxon on the startship Enterprise. That is to say, I move on.
