Last time I was in Texas there was already enough bull running down the main streets. And all the other streets.

I say if they are going to do this, they should have it in the streets, not in some fenced arena. I mean forget the Americanization of the event unless you are going to limit the participants to career politicians, and replace the bulls with hungry cougars....

I'm with Aynne on this one. To put a bull into a human arena (in this case the streets) and have it fear for its life is nothing but cruel. Its done for adult entertainment and its pathetic. Bulls are animals of fight or flight instinct, so when cornered will fight to the death if necessary.

A public street isn't the right place. I thought about the HITS circuit but their fences aren't meant for cattle.

The only places I can think of are DFW where the AQHA World is held, OK City where AQHYA World is held and Columbus, OH where they hold the quarterhorse Congress.

There are penning areas on both ends of the arenas. Pens that do hold cattle for working cattle classes. You could easily enough put fences up in the arena to keep the cattle going straight.

Plus an added benefit for Columbus is that it's one of the most depressed cities I've ever been to. It could do with the money.

Des, I respect your reasoning and logic. but as has been pointed out, the techniques to get them running is cruel, now if we are going to use your ideas for venues, then it has to be cougars with politicians doing the running.

Now, if they really want to Americanize it, they should forget the bulls (introduced species) and use buffalo.

Cattle stampede during storms, don't they? God knows the speakers in OK and Columbus would have no trouble emitting a loud crack of thunder. Since my daughter only exhibited as a youth, I can't speak for World for Adults or Select.

But mountain lions are in short supply, and you can't use an endangered or threatened species.

How about outrunning coyote? And then the people would have to wear roadrunner costumes. And all vendors would be labeled Acme.

I'd be glad to donate the coyote that started singing a couple of weeks ago and kept it up for hours. Yip, yip, yip.

All I know about bulls is if you tenderize the meat, correctly, they taste pretty good with some bar-b-cue sauce and mashed taters.

Why not eat them as a real carnivore does? raw and cold off the bone? Oh wait.....cos we aren't carnivores. duh.
