The second article definitely does sound intriguing. I do realize she's in the beginning stages of her studies, but she only alludes to a ritualism involved in the treatment of their dead without giving any concrete examples. In what way does the cannibalism or "due fleshing" allude to a ritualism?

Ritualistic cannibalism is one of the earliest forms of grieving for the dead, and as such could be considered a funeral practice. It seems gruesome to us, but is found throughout many cultures, past and present.

Some quotes from the article "Ritual Cannibalism Among the Wari:"

Anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski, who actually witnessed this type Melanesian ritual, described the act to be an "approved" collective means for individuals to express these feelings of grief and fear while still maintaining social cohesiveness, thus preventing disruption of society.

If you'd like a link, let me know.

And argh. That was ment to be defleshing, not due fleshing. My auto correct is on. :/

I would definitely like a link, thank you. I hadn't really thought of this field of study until now. Thanks for the information, by the way.
