Jeff, I blame you! You have not brought down the next Ice Age which would fix the climate problems that we are having.

At my house, the porch got up to 106 degrees. I told Mom to stay in and keep the AC on (she is sorta mad about my ordering stuff on ebay, but most of them are books she can read by one of my favorite authors and yarn for my next project).

Lizard and I had to wait for over an hour for a bloody cab to get boxes home so we can start packing. It is already 100 degrees here. We might just go play one session of Bingo because she has a doctor's appt. at 1 in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, we have to put up with 4 dogs. Loki, the Chihuahua/terrier mix is SMALL!!!! It looks like she might top 2 pounds. I am going to trim up her claws so she won't scratch me up. We might have to give Sif away because she has an attitude...steals the food from the other dogs, tears up anything...why on earth Lizard rescued her is beyond me...

But it is hot down here in Austin. You can see the signs of the 3rd year of the drought. The city is on 1 day a week water restriction. Lake Travis is probably below 40% full....

Oh yea, Lizard's BF got a hair cut for his job. It almost looks like my first ex-hubby (I blame being sleepy and bad lighting).

I was wearing a hoody up till a few hours ago.

Nice weather in PA.

Stay hydrated!!

I know...been drinking water like crazy, so has Lizard. When her BF comes over, I have him do the dishes while I work getting the clean one packed up. Bo surprised me by going through his spice collection so the old stuff is gone...one less chore for me to do. Got the pantry to do...putting off the microwave area until later...cat food and treats are up there (an old wooden computer desk Bo uses to hold extra food since the pantry is so small).

FR
If I was you I'd start thinking about getting out of Texas entirely. The drought looks like its here to stay and there is pretty much no way the fresh water supply from the Colorado River can support everyone.

I am just visiting my daughter down here in Austin. I live in Northeast Texas where it is not really affected by the drought according to Gov. Perry (bastard). We can't afford to get up and move. The house and land is paid for and with Mom being disabled, she gets a lower property tax rate. We quit using the land as a farm years ago when I moved in. the Pasture is overgrown with weeds and dead trees (cut down the ones that was threatening to fall on the trailer last year).

I love Austin...but it is getting too expensive to reside here which is why I am with Mom. I get treatment for the bipolar, PTSD and fibromyalgia and my own room.

Two nights ago it went down to the upper 40s. I ran around closing all the windows. Went to sleep in a flannel nightgown and socks, and still woke up frozen in the middle and had to dig out the quilt. Not August weather at all.

Usually I sleep with a sheet over me because of this heat. Lizard has 2 fans blowing on her and she is a blanket thief. She lived here in Austin all of her life and knows not to step outside when it gets hot. Thank goodness for online classes.

First, I am trying to start an ICE AGE, not heating up the frigging planet. Once the temp goes over 80, I get upset, angry and generally anti social.

Well, do your job! I can be content crocheting up hats and scarves to sell...

oh my god , oh my god, ohmygod - i'm mowing the lawn - and its 98 degrees and so humid I have to cut slices of air so I can breath. This is the second break I have had to take because I was getting too hot. I have sweat running off my face - and I HATE to sweat!!!

Roll on the next ice age.[>:]

Here in Massachusetts, it was in the 50s last night. I am finally sleeping through the night again, but I think that is because the night-owl 20-something with whom I share a bedroom wall has moved out.

Look, at this point, I have calculated that I would need either a extremely large amount of high explosives, A TBM, and a few months of uninterrupted work so that I could tunnel deep enough under Lake Toba in Indonesia, plant the explosives and then after getting a safe distance away, like 400 miles, detonating them.

That is Plan A

Plan B involves getting control of every nuclear tipped ICBM in the world and have them all hit and detonate in lake toba at the same time.

Plan C is altering the orbit of an asteroid about 1 kilometer in diameter and having it slam into lake toba so we end up with the fall out from an asteroid impact and the ash and Sulfur Dioxide cloud from the super volcano erupting.

Would youse all like to come and live here? It was, in your degrees, 62 in the middle of the afternoon. And The Teen was volunteering at a beach volleyball match.

It rained.

As much as I do find the invitation tempting, as soon as I set foot in the UK with my most valuable possessions, I would be arrested as a terrorist.

Same here with all of my hooks and yarn. They would think I might do something to the sheep for the wool...

jlf1961 -> RE: Okay, who the hell turn the heat on? (random thoughts) (8/6/2013 2:56:03 PM)

My problem is all the firearms, ammo, bladed weapons, Military manuals dealing with anti personnel devices, dogs that lick people to death and chew shoes (the UK would be shoeless in less than a week) plus I dont speak the language, I speak Texmex, Texan, Bad English, Sargent, and pissed off sargent.

I do not envy you. I just now turned on the ceiling fan for the fist time today. Just think - you will have the last word when the east coast gets 2-3 feet of snow every few days... we dont have to shovel heat.....

KYsissy -> RE: Okay, who the hell turn the heat on? (random thoughts) (8/6/2013 3:45:13 PM)

It has been rather nice in Louisville this summer. I dont think we cracked 90 more than a couple times. High 50s low 60s at night. Unheard of for August. And when it does get hot, pack a cooler and head to a local quarry for a day of swimming and fun.

lol - my sweetie and I went to Mexico, and I took some knitting for down time. Fine all the way there, and on the way home the Mexican security homed in on my circular needles as if I was trying to smuggle C4. I had to throw them out. $18 circular needles in the rubbish!

I was pissed![>:]
