Too funny! Bless your heart for the thread.

Edit: do southern men ask if their hair is too big?!

Thank you for sharing. Had they added one expression about grits, I'd have thought I was back in GA.

You have obviously never seen some of the mullet boys or Elvis impersonators.

to Jesus'.

It's Elvis week on Memphis now..I can just see the hair there.

If any of you wonder how I sound...this video will tell you. I have said damn near EVERY one of those sayings!

36 years ago this week, Elvis died and I lost my virginity within hours of each other.

I love the flowers and things the fans bring and
send during Elvis Week. I remember one year there
was a wreath with a telephone in the center of it
The banner read "Jesus called."

~FR~

My 8 yr. old niece from Illinois once asked whence the term "ya'll," (bless her heart), whereupon I had to explain that it was for purpose of making distinction between whether the speaker was addressing an individual (you) as opposed to two or more people (ya'll), when more than one is in the room.

This seems to be a major point of flummoxation for some. In any case, her GA-born mom had moved from that state at age 5, and so was not up to the task. Uncle-who-still-lives-here had to explain it.

The German language also accounts for this, with noticeably less consternation, in the familiar second person plural (ihr ->"ya'll," vs. "du" for the familiar singular second person) though not in the formal, for the same case (Sie -> "you," for both single and plural).

Bless everybody's heart.
