I also know a few self-professed metrosexuals. I have to say that from a submissive standpoint they are not exactly the epitome of dominance. I see nothing wrong with a well groomed man. I want one who cleans up well but isn't afraid to get himself dirty.  I am not interested in a man who is worried about the state of his manicure and what designer label is inside of his shirt. That is superficial to me. I like my men to be manly, masculine men who aren't afraid to pick up an axe and chop a pile of wood, who don't mind being up to their elbows in the cavity of a deer and who won't throw a hissy fit about the dirt under their nails after working on the car. Each to his/her own. This was about personal preferences was it not.

You won't find me fighting you for them, mist... they're all yours. SR and I are urban and urbane women. We prefer our men (and this has held true for me all the way up through the ranks, and includes both men whom I was in day-to-day service to for 7 years) to be skilled at the talents necessary to survive in the "Urban Jungle"... clean, neat, well-spoken, well dressed, manicured, shaven, with very little cologne (SR is allergic to musk). It also helps if they know how to manage themselves at a fine restaurant (and how to find one, and how to make reservations and how to tip), if they know how to dance, and if they know how to handle house servants (or be outstanding ones). Most of the men I've known who consider themselves to be "metrosexuals" have been (are) good friends and wonderful to socialize with (and excellent to have in our home!)

Hmmmm...not understanding here....why would it be presumed that a man can not be a masculine, manly man who can do all of the things I stated in my post and still manage to do all of the things stated in yours. I'm not into neanderthal men. I spent most of my life in the big city and I understand and appreciate the importance of being able to survive in it. The men that attract me are gentlemen...who are all you state that impresses you (okay, minus the servivtude and most likely the manicured thing) AND all of the qualities that impress me. The kind of men that I look for are just as comfortable in leather, jeans and flannel as they are in Armani....and they can pull off all of those and anything in between. The difference is that the ones that I find attractive aren't so overly preoccupied with their vanity and the image that they are portraying that they get an irregular heartbeat if they have to get sweaty and dirty or wear a pair of levi's and Rocky's instead of pinstripes and Gucci's. They don't need to spend an hour and half in front of a mirror making sure their pores are minimized and they have just the right amount of hair gel just to sit in front of the tv watching golf and sipping green tea. Their rugged good looks are quite attractive enough for anything on cable....and if dinner and dancing in the city is in order...they know how to make that transition. I would suggest the type of man I seek can easily fit into situations in the "Urban Jungle" but I can't see your metrosexual types bridging the gap between the "Urban Jungle" and the woodpile. Call me selfish but I want a man that can do it all.

How many of you think that metrosexual are desireable partners
for kinksters?

Absolutely!!!! In fact it's my top-desired population.

Metrosexuals have time and money and luxury to spend- perfect for someone like me.  Metrosexuals care and put time into their general look- also perfect for me.  And that clean cut classy metro look just makes me DROOL.

This doesn't of course mean that being a metrosexual equates to someone being a great partner...but on the whole, I'm very attracted and enjoy metrosexuals as partners.

No.

If you would liked some clarification on the term, check out

Urban Dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=metrosexual

Regards,

Vendaval

I looked at the definition and to me this sounds very selfish and self-centered not cultured or learned or gentle in any way. Why would someone like that interest me when I do Ds primarily for me first and foremost?

I see metrosexual as more like what I see on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy -- those men learn to be more cultured, learn how to find information and put it into action, learn how to focus on their partner and share in the household work but do it in a confident way. That's more attractive to me.

I can see both points of view about men, the "manly men"
who work with their hands and are rugged and the "metro sexuals"
who are urbane and sophisticated.  It would be wonderful to find a man who has both aspects.

One thought that popped into my head after meeting a few
individuals who fit the "metro" definition is that metros are
already groomed, if you please, to be service submissives
and personal attendants.

Now if the fellow spends more time and money on hair care products
in a week than I do in a month, that would become
problematic!  lol

Hmmm...how about a charm school for men?

Ramble on....

I originally read this thread and was going to post about how some Men can be refined, yet still rugged.... til I started taking offense at a few of the suggestions of the "lack of culture" of the rugged fellows.

So rather than quote and flame and generally cause an uproar... I'm just going to withdraw...

well wishes,
T.R.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Our LE was both refined and dignified, -and- intensely masculine. He was an afficionado of fine literature... and what he said his mother called "fisticuffs" (I'm guessing, from what he described, it was bare-knuckle boxing). He could order a bottle of wine, and figure out how to fill a canteen during a rainstorm in a South American jungle (which he had to do, considering his work and the strange places he had to travel to.)

Mistoferin described an outdoorsy type of man as her preference -- one who might be -able- to do all the things I mentioned our PD as being able to do, but -preferring- to be rugged and active and outdoors. I think she took offense to my lighthearted response to her, and that wasn't my intention. I was strictly speaking about what -we- enjoy, without passing judgement on anyone else's choices. Just to clarify, I guess my sense of this is that we prefer the -indoor- type... they -could- chop wood and dig a foxhole, but prefer a less... rural way of life.. a good book to a compound bow, and a fire-place to a fire-pit. They like their urbanity, and so do we.

When discussing personal preferences, there are no wrong answers. Each of us has an idea in our minds of what is a good fit for -us-... and opinions cannot be wrong ... they just -are-. It isn't a matter of either being a "better" kind of person, and certainly both have a place and those who prefer them, but it is good, I think, not to take other people's preferences as degrading our own.

Nope, not at all. No offense taken and I'm sorry if it sounded that way.

Actually,
It was someone elses comment about what a letdown the neanderthals were after being with a self-pampering metrosexual... I forget who posted it, I don't consider her important enough to go back to the previous page to find out.

I'm just going to go hang My club back up in the closet next to My freshly dry cleaned linen suit.... I have to go and work overtime at the factory, so I need to get some rest.

well wishes,
T.R.

Yes, I agree a metrosexual is a straight male. They have good manners, they are todays gentlemen, who are more advanced, as they can can also cook you up a meal and other delightful things.
I definately like the metrosexual men...yum
