I was dating a man many, many years ago and he got shingles at the ripe old age of 28. At first he thought he just had a heat rash but the pain got worse and worse. Like others have said, he said it hurt like hell. Apparently he had caught some strange virus that caused it, but not chicken pox according to the doc. It was really weird to see someone so young to get shingles.

I remember reading about a case where a pregnant woman did get Shingles and it made her miserable. Luckily it did not hurt the baby.

Yes, it is a mandatory shot while I am in the military.
