provfivetine -> MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 11:52:50 AM)

What is your MBTI personality type and how does it influence who you are?

If you are not familiar with MBTI types then you can find out your type here: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
Once you have taken the test then you can read about your type here: http://www.16personalities.com/type-descriptions

Does it describe you?

Some say that the MBTI is nonsense (or inaccurate), but as an INTJ, the description for my type is eerily accurate. My venture into the BDSM world has made everything easier because I can explicitly state what it is that I am looking for right off the bat without coming off as...well...you know! Obviously, this is much more difficult when going the traditional dating route as certain topics are sometimes not well-received; and, since I am an introverted geek, I am quite out-of-touch with the social rituals that are endemic to the vanilla world, which make no sense to me and are almost necessary for meeting someone the traditional way. BDSM--combined with the internet--allows me to sidestep this. That's my two cents. Anyways, it would be nice to see if certain MBTI types gravitate towards certain BDSM roles (regrettably there are not enough options for the poll feature to be effective).

Me = INTJ Dom. What say you?

JeffBC -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 12:18:57 PM)

I'm all over the map on myers-briggs. It depends when I take the test what my scores are.

LadyPact -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 12:40:14 PM)

I'm an ENTJ. (I know. The entire forum will be completely shocked by this. [:-] ) It makes Me excel in lifestyle groups and communities. These are the traits that make for a great organizer for events, getting the motivation going, and getting the job done. People are very often willing to do what I want them to do. It still gives Me enough room to recognize that another person might be better suited to a job than I am.

It also makes Me a good fit as a protocol person and a rules person. At least, I seem to think it does.

Didn't we have a thread on this not too long ago?

INFP sub

INTJ sub. Not borderline on any category [:)]

f4ll3n -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 3:04:13 PM)

I've measured within InTj and InTp pretty consistently.

AaNiMaLl -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 3:27:52 PM)

Discussing the psychological personality profiles of bdsm is a valuable topic I think.

It can be interesting to use Myers Briggs but professional psychologists stopped using this about 20 years ago and a lot of flaws have been brought up. It is not considered valid. Most IO Psychologists will laugh if you bring this up. The reason that it is still used a lot is because it takes industry a lot of time to catch up with psychology. It is as if management is 30 years behind the psychology journals.

The cornerstone to personality testing is OCEAN. This system is used on O*Net http://www.onetonline.org/ . Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness and Extroversion. Another test is the PF16. Ocean and PF16 are the two dominant tests out there used by IO psychologist. Abnormal or Clinical Psychologists use the DSM IV (V). However, this is not really applicable to everyday people because it is used to assess things such as schizophrenia, autism and depression. But it is still useful and interesting. Maybe significantly applicable to bdsm because bdsm would be considered abnormal psychology.

DSM IV on masochism :) : "Sexually masochistic behaviors are typically evident by early adulthood, and often start with masochistic or sadistic play in childhood. The disorder is characterized by either intense sexually arousing fantasies, urges, or behaviors in which the individual is humiliated, beaten, bound, or made to suffer in some way."

You can find the DSM online for free here: http://allpsych.com/disorders/dsm.html

That could be a thread for another time. What mental disorders do you cum from?

INFJ

kalikshama -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 6:10:46 PM)

Today I was an INFJ. Some famous INFJs include Nelson Mandela. When I take the Political Compass Test, I end up in the same neighborhood with Nelson Mandela too.

I'm a sub in the bedroom and in most other parts of our relationship, but not in areas where I have strong beliefs and skills, such as food sourcing and cooking.

I'm not very submissive at work ;)

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 6:13:40 PM)

Well, the first of those threads is about the first characteristic only, introversion/extroversion, not the full typology. The second thread is more than 3 months old so can't be posted to.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 6:14:51 PM)

I'd rather be like Nelson Mandela than Putin, who has my personality type!

Colt1269 -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 6:15:57 PM)

ENFJ

Yes, we can do! ;-)

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 6:19:39 PM)

I wondered for awhile if any of the types or characteristics were more often Dom or sub. I would guess that that only aspect more reliably Dom would be the last one, J/Judging. All the others seem like they would fit either Dom or sub equally.

littlewonder -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 7:01:32 PM)

My personality comes out different each and every single time I take that test. It just depends on my mood, time of day, etc....when I take it.

I think it's a very speculative test and not one I would put any kind of seriousness in.

Yep.
Most people turned out to be INTJ if I remember correctly.

kdsub -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 7:57:52 PM)

I am a INTJ and the description following the test is close to my personality I think. But the descriptions are sort of like horoscopes...worded so everyone finds something they want to hear... The below however was in the description and sure does describe me...[:D]

difficult to handle romantic relationships

And imagine this... It says I will have a tendency to be arrogant ...never happen...bullshit

That would be an interesting finding if it were true. If I remember correctly, INTJ is the most rare of all of the personality types. So if it was the most common among kinksters, I'd love to dig deeper into why that is.

Personally, I'm an INTJ. I always thought that made me special. But your comment makes me feel...........ordinary. [;)]

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: MBTI Personality Type and BDSM Role (8/19/2013 8:36:18 PM)

Or maybe it's just that INTJs are uniquely drawn to this personality typology [:)]
