tazzygirl -> Bookkeeper stops school gunman (8/21/2013 10:23:39 PM)

A mentally ill man enters a school with 500 rounds and an AK 47... and a bookkeeper without a gun talks him down.

Amazing story. An amazing woman.

Nobody died.
That's the best you can hope for.

tazzygirl -> RE: Bookkeeper stops school gunman (8/21/2013 10:43:45 PM)

Once the guy shows up it is.
Best would be if he chose not to show up but that wouldn't be one of these situations would it.

Whats the best you can hope for?

you know the population didnt quadruple since I was a kid but there are at least that many times the psychopaths out there now days.

Maybe we should start looking at what could possibly be causing so many people to become loons and those wonder drugs and the people that provide them a little closer.

How about a law that anyone who does not take their drugs on time gets fined 500 bucks?

She talked him down PLUS got him to unarm and go flat on the floor. Saving everyone's life, including his.

And after gunfire had already intervened. She kept with him. There are no words for this.

Best would be children not afraid. best would be parents not losing the security. best would be mentally ill people not having to go without medications due to finances. Best would be a mentally ill patient not having a gun.

This was a "Bless _____ " moment. Nothing more. One of those "Hit my knees and thank God/Allah/Goddess/The Great Spirit/ The Spagetti Monster/ The Bookkeeper" kinda moments.

Happy? far from it.

Real0ne -> RE: Bookkeeper stops school gunman (8/21/2013 11:01:33 PM)

so people on psychotropic drugs are all mentally ill then?

how did we get so damn many of them over the last 50 years anyway?

something in the water?

natural evolution of man maybe?

I bet he was a pot smoker and needed a fix?

Have you observed her, Antoinette Tuff ? She shows an inner determination, radiance, and magnetism rarely seen. Maybe that's really her, or maybe it's the outcome talking.
A 50-something, having just ended a 33 yr marriage. Astounding.

She says she felt unloved. This is going to change that.

And you call me a dreamer [8|] Bama was right, compared to the last school shooting this was a happy ending. I would also guess that all the parents are happy their kids came home today also. But you are right, in a perfect world they guy would have been somewhere getting treatment and no one would have had to worry about anything. I feel sorry for anyone who feels they can't be happy until that happens. They are going to spend their lives being sad.

I recall a phrase spoken by Wayne LaPierre not so long ago.
“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,”

Best would be an end to poverty
best would be an end to disease
