I decided we needed a thread so we can vent at the little things that just pisses us off.

One of the things that piss me off is taking pictures of puppies and toddlers.

They start doing something so cute you have an "AWWWW" moment, but as soon as you grab your camera, they stop.

Next is Damian my 19 month old nephew doing the drill sargent inspection thing with my bed. Every morning I make my bed, and every morning he comes into my room, says something in that language only toddlers understand that clearly indicates he is displeased with something, and promptly UNMAKES my bed by dragging everything on to the floor.

Ok JLF, I'll christen this one.

Cyclists who ride on the pavement, if they're adults they should know better, pedestrians should be allowed to KILL THEM!

When I ride my bike, I go wherever I have to avoid cars. Here in the good ol' U.S. of A., cyclists are regarded as somewhere between communists and Al Quaeda, judging from the way they mess with us. Since approximately no one here walks, the sidewalks are fair play. No, I'm not one of those spandex dudes-just a guy on a beach cruiser I found on the side of road waiting for the trash man.

If I see a pedestrian, I go back into the street. If not, I have my own personal road and more than once had cops just drive on by. It's not worth the time and trouble to ticket someone just for trying to avoid becoming roadkill. Now for my own personal pet peeve...

...those fools with the extreme sound systems in crap-ass cars. Seriously, every fucking rap song has the same bass line, and that's all you hear...boooooooommmmmmTISHTISHboooooooooooommmmmTISHTISH....and what really, really ticks me off is the fact that it isn't some black kid. No, it's usually some pasty-face jerkoff from the 'burbs who'd wet himself if he ever found his pampered white ass in the real 'hood. When you pull up next to a rusty '99 Kia that's literally shaking parts off at the light, and it's got four white punks in it with their hats on backwards, I start to get angry for no fathomable reason....

Bicyclists in the country...

You are driving down the road doing the speed limit and come up on a bunch of bicyclists, who are doing the pack thing and spread out across the road, you cant pass em because they wont move, and it is illegal to run over them because they wont move, and when you blow the horn at them, they get pissed because they believe the road belongs to them.

Add to that if you do run them over, it is bad on the tires, which is why I want a ex military '65 dodge crew cab with non directional 22 inch tires, nice thick puncture proof tread.

People who don't know that it is illegal to ride a bike on the pavement in the UK ! Offenders, if caught can be liable to a fine up to £1000, there should be a couple of extra noughts added to that figure!!! Am I ranting ?

I must admit I nudge them as they go past me occasionally & tell the bastards not to cycle into me. Sail before steam I always say !

I agree totally with the crap ass car/rap music thing, what are they trying to prove, we get that sort over here as well.

You know what the police call cyclists? Organ donors. I've nothing against cyclist that stay off the pavement, or indeed, out of my way .

2 cultures separated by a common language.

In British, the "Pavement" is the sidewalk.

In regular English, "Pavement" is the road surface or what you folks from the old country call "motorway".

An American riding on the pavement is on the road.
A Brit NOT riding on the pavement is on the road.

I used to commute on my bike before I could afford a car. 18.5 miles (30 Km) each way so I was averaging 1000 miles/month with shopping and such. It keeps you in really good condition.
I had my share of run ins with drivers but when they saw that the person they were hassling looked like he could rip the door off their car, was crazy enough to do it and had a lock that mostly consisted of 5' of half inch coated steel cable, they backed off.
One old lady in her 70's kinda got my goat though. She pulled up beside me at a stoplight in the rain, rolled her passenger side window down and yelled "What the hell are you riding on the road for asshole?"
I calmly said "I ride to go to work, I work so I can make money, I make money so I can pay taxes and I pay taxes so some old dried up cunt like you never has to miss a Social Security check" and then I smiled at her.

If you bloody people would learn to speak the language properly, we wouldn't have these problems.

Cars & bikes, have always played cat & mouse with each other, but when you see these cyclists weave in & out of traffic, & the chances they take, you can't help wondering how come they've lived so long.

No problem here on this side of the pond .

Ok Hill, I'll teach you how to speak proper English.

Say the following three words: AIR - HAIR - LAIR. Put them all together & say them fast.

That's how we greet each other in Blighty !

Good on you, we've got to keep the British end up! Is there anything that really bugs you?

Probably the fact that, on this side of the pond, when we hear the term "spotted dick" we think it's a venereal disease.
