Yachtie -> Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 9:32:21 AM)

Shouldn't be much longer till this shit ends.

(Reuters) - The U.S. National Security Agency has bugged the United Nations' New York headquarters, Germany's Der Spiegel weekly said on Sunday in a report on U.S. spying that could further strain relations between Washington and its allies.

Citing secret U.S. documents obtained by fugitive former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, Der Spiegel said the files showed how the United States systematically spied on other states and institutions.

Der Spiegel said the European Union and the U.N.'s Vienna-based nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), were among those targeted by U.S. intelligence agents.

According to the documents, the NSA runs a bugging program in more than 80 embassies and consulates worldwide called "Special Collection Service". "The surveillance is intensive and well organized and has little or nothing to do with warding off terrorists," wrote Der Spiegel.

Terrorism? Of course not. It's the sole acts of a tyrant.

They all spy on each other.

DsBound -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 9:55:45 AM)

Couldn't agree with you more... what concerns me is that most people don't care that we're being spied on and tracked. When I originally read the article you've mentioned my first thought was they're systematically figuring out who to detain first. What some refuse to see if who "they" deem to be terrorists. Citizens that homeschool, believe in God, fly flags, use words like Libertarian, Tea Party, Freedom. It is scary and the notion that BO hasn't been impeached already is insane. He's broken the constitution so many times and natta. It's funny in a not so funny way. Realize Nixon was impeached over wire tapping a room... BO had wire tapped a nation and no one seems to have a problem with it.

BTW... Yachtie love your avatar!! Lol. Saved it for my better half to see. He'll get a kick out of it!

Im curious. I homeschooled, and I never felt once that I was under surveillance or in any way a target.

You might want to actually take a look and find out for yourself what is required for it to be an impeachable offense. Too many toss around that notion without knowing what they are speaking about.

Realize the NSA was formed in 1952. The FISA court was created in 1978. Realize this bugging you are now complaining about has been an ongoing efforts for over a decade. Do we go back and impeach all those presidents as well?

You speak about Nixon. They knew about this program while Nixon was in office. Ask yourself... why didnt they stop it then? Its naive to think anyone is going to impeach any President over this.

DsBound -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 10:43:27 AM)

Tazzy... I didn't make up the list, I support homeschooling. I'm a homeschooling advocate and we homeschool our children. I'm just telling you groups of people the government considers "free thinkers" and a possible threat. Preppers also fall into this group... anyone that believes in sustaining their own, without "needing" the government.

Just because it was originally started in '52 I was replying to the initial post... Snowden and the article noted above were regarding NSA Prism and that was established, I believe in 07. I personally don't need my neighbor, my family or big brother watching or recording my every move. You're correct... it has been around since 1952, however it was set up for monitoring and interpreting foreign communications.

Impeachment... I'm well aware of reasons for impeachment. Let's see, I think he has high crimes down pat... From Benghazi, to literally funding a war from the White House. People seem to just look over what he is doing!! I don't get it.

Do I think he'll be impeached? No, I don't. I think he was a pawn used and we won't get rid of him until the end of his term... if we're lucky. ;) For the record, I see no difference between Democrat and Republican politicians... they are all funded by the same people.

Cant think of another President who did the same thing?

Prism was started in 2007. Something all of Congress knew about by 2008 when they voted to approve it.

Sponsored by Reyes - Texas - D
Co Sponsored by Pete Hoekstra - Michigan - R
and Lamar S. Smith - Texas - R

6/19/2008 Introduced in House
6/20/2008 Passed/agreed to in House: On passage Passed by the Yeas and Nays: 293 - 129 (Roll no. 437).
7/9/2008 Passed/agreed to in Senate: Passed Senate without amendment by Yea-Nay Vote. 69 - 28. Record Vote Number: 168.
7/9/2008 Cleared for White House.
7/9/2008 Presented to President.
7/10/2008 Signed by President.

The house vote... http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll437.xml

The senate vote.... http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00168

Its helpful to know this because all those who voted yes to that now law would also face impeachment if your measure of such is this law.

Im not overlooking what is happening. What I am seeing is the blame game once again. Maybe when people stop pointing blame and actually speak about the issue, things will change. I dont hold out much hope since most in government love that game... and many people on both sides of the isle like to echo their favorite politicians.

I think it is time to move the headquarters to Germany...because we all know they would be safe from the nasty NSA then. I mean Germany would never spy on anyone. In fact even better... Iran would be a great place for the headquarters...or maybe Russia or China or Korea...any place other than the jack booted Obamainized USA.

DsBound -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 11:10:29 AM)

That's all I am saying... however multiple wrongs don't make a right! And most people are sheep to what is happening to our country... from spending to spying, it's gotten dramatically worse over the past 8 years and by continuing to do the same thing today, we'll never be in a different place tomorrow. We all know that. What this country needs are more unemployed politicians. lol

I thought we were speaking about the issue... ;)

I'm not sure about speaking out and how well that would go. Right now we have one of the most aggressive presidents when it comes to speaking out against him or whistleblowing. Let's take a look at a few that have tried to speak out... well there's Manning, who now has 35 years... Snowden who is transplanted to Russia... Hastings, he's not even with us anymore! This administration DOES NOT go after any whistleblower that advances his agenda but if it's anything against it, watch out!!

Did you know that the CIA agents that were present in Benghazi are still being held there? They are being polygraphed monthly to ensure they do not speak to anyone, reporters, etc... Hmmm, I wonder why that is? Most people I know want answers and we will not get them...

I never considered him a whistle blower. I also think its a dangerous precedent to allow military personnel with access to sensitive, even classified information, to hide behind that status.

For a year, then what?

Gary Webb.
Christoph Meili
Julia Davis

Are we going to share more examples?

DsBound -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 1:34:12 PM)

What's your point?

tazzygirl -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 1:37:45 PM)

Im trying to figure out yours. You seem to be among those who like to point fingers depending on the administration.. something we see far too much of on these boards... and yet ignore what has happened during other administrations.

DsBound -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 2:18:57 PM)

Oh okay... so you believe two wrongs make a right. I follow you.

I don't. Like you said, you could point fingers at either party... both are to blame. And unless people no longer stand for where the government is leading our nation, again regardless of party, it will never change. Im not saying BO is or is not the cause or root of all government evils... but hes made some extremely poor decisions. His administration is very aggressive when it comes to people speaking out... I believe, even more so than previous administrations. Prism is just a slice of the pie... bigger fish to fry would be Benghazi and funding the war in Libya, which I find both to be impeachable and my stance would be the same if Bush, Clinton or Tom Thumb was in office.

tazzygirl -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 4:15:41 PM)

Two wrongs make a right? Not at all. But standing in a field stomping your foot about something that happened yesterday when you allowed it to happen for a few years before hand is a bit hypocritical, especially when the only difference is the fact that the person now doing it is a different person.

Not at all!! Democrat and Republican politicians are easily interchangeable. Take away Prism, NSA... hes still impeachable for high crimes, which to be honest, you can't push Benghazi or him funding Libya on any one before him. Those were his decisions or lack there of. I think its funny if someone criticizes him at all the response is always "but so and so did it". Sigh.

hlen5 -> RE: Needs BUG SPRAY, and lots of it (8/25/2013 5:16:02 PM)

No, two wrongs don't make a right. Yes, both Dem and Repubs are beholden to the money men. Yes, both sides' hands are dirty in this. I had read no further than post 3 when I did my original post on this thread.
