It was stated in another post that to maintain her safety, a female submissive should ask a male Dom to email or fax a copy of his driver's license/ID to the submissive and the submissive should give it to a friend when she meets said Dominant. So, male Doms, I'm asking would you give a copy of your driver's license to a person you barely know to be held by someone that is a complete stranger to you?

DesFIP -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/3/2013 6:57:33 PM)

That always made no sense to me. So you meet and the other person has all your info. Then what happens if you don't want to ever see them again? You've made yourself available for ID theft.

Exchanging info comes after you've decided you really like each other and want to see each other again. Not before.

And yes, if he's giving out such info, she should too. If she doesn't feel comfortable doing so, then she shouldn't ask it of him. She also shouldn't be getting tied up, beaten and fucked by a guy she doesn't feel safe telling her real name to.

And that last is the important part.

With this said, The Man did give me his name. I googled it and came up with some esoteric paper he had written. I made the mistake of asking about it and wound up listening to more than I ever wanted to know about electronics. And afterwards, I still didn't understand it!

theshytype -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/3/2013 7:13:06 PM)

I would never ask for that!
It would seem fishy to me if someone asked me for it, so therefore I wouldn't ask.

But, I'm also one that wouldn't be playing with anyone without some level of trust already established.
That trust would be established by several meetings, public ones.
I'm a (sometimes overly) cautious person and that just seems a bit much to me.

A thorough background check can be performed without all the data contained on a drivers license. Someone who wants a scan of your license isn't interested in you for a date, they are an ID thief.

I'll give her the make and model of my car and tag number but not my DL. There's too much info on there that is easily obtained.
You can get the same info from a tag but it takes a bit of work.

I'm not a male Dom but I would never ever request that of anyone at all. That's just all kinds of stupid. And if Master had asked for mine before we even met, there would have never even been a date. I would see that person as distrustful of everyone and most likely a negative nelly and not someone I would have wanted to be around in the first place. He still hasn't recovered from whatever made him bitter and jaded in the first place.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/3/2013 8:28:10 PM)

Yea bitter and jaded to make sure that when meeting someone on the internet who clearly states they enjoy beating women... that it might... might... just maybe....

be a good idea, to have real information about the person your meeting regardless of wither its public...

Yeah no ones EVER been kidnapped in public

Or met someone off the internet who Raped, Kidnapped and Tortured them

that NEVER happens on the internet...

Ever...

I dont ask for ID but i have someone at the location with me when im there who makes sure the date leaves first and watches that he doesnt double back...

AS someone who has been followed home from a public meet, and who was almost raped because of said meet, I tend to be a little bit cautious of those i meet...

tommonymous -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/3/2013 8:38:59 PM)

Sex isn't a valid reason for a complete stranger to be diddling with my ID. Nope. Not at all.

tommonymous -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/3/2013 8:41:06 PM)

I'd actually be happy to have the person I'm meeting bring a friend. Much happier than to have her request a copy of my ID.

Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard, but three cups of coffee (Even the frufru shit.) costs way less than identity theft.

JeffBC -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/4/2013 11:19:41 AM)

These two responses were closest for me:

LW: I would see that person as distrustful of everyone and most likely a negative nelly and not someone I would have wanted to be around in the first place.
TOMM: I'd actually be happy to have the person I'm meeting bring a friend.

Of course, I'd still be wondering how this person manages to leave their front door every day if going to a starbucks is such a massive risk to them. Mosty, my response to someone needing to feel safer is to tell them they should probably not be around me at all. In that way they can be really safe from me. When we brought a young model to our home for a portrait sitting she did tell her friends where she was going and she sort-of setup a safe call. Given this was a private residence not a starbucks that made some sense to me and I, myself, tracked the time and reminded her she might have friends freaking out.

I would not ask for such information. I would not share that information with someone who asked for it.

The Mister & I had been talking for a couple of months before we actually met. We had exchanged a picture, our phone numbers, and I think we told each other where we had worked by then, but I'm not sure. I did Google him, to see what came up, and I think he probably Googled me, too, but it was no big deal.

At our first meeting/dinner, he gave me his business card. Since I was driving a little more than an hour to meet him and it was in the evening, I let my cousin/best friend know where I'd be, and shared his name and photo with her. I told him I had done that and he said he had pretty much expected that. It wasn't a huge deal. The first time I went to his house I shared his address with her, too, just so they knew where to look for the body if I never came home. [8D]

But honestly, I never had that fear that I see others mention. If I did, I wouldn't have met him to begin with. I wonder how people ever did "blind dates" if they didn't have name, photo, number, social security number, drivers license number, DNA code, etc...

I did have a friend who'd go on dates from Match.com. At first she'd just tell me the name of who she was meeting and where she would be, and would text me when she got home. It was a peace of mind sort of thing. After awhile, she stopped doing even that.

OsideGirl -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/4/2013 12:07:53 PM)

My POV is that if you're getting tied up and beaten by someone that you feel you need to have a copy of their ID to keep you safe.....then you're doing something wrong.

I'd actually prefer that. And in a very public place to boot. And in daylight, or at least early evening. Burns can go both ways nowadays.

Of course, I also get a kick out of saying when I cuff someone, "This is for your protection as well as mine," but that's beside the point here...

punisher440 -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/4/2013 2:52:08 PM)

FR
I have no problem with someone I am meeting having a safe call, them letting a friend know my name and showing my pic... but a copy of my ID? Hell no! As for myself, I prefer to meet in a public place for the first time, it allows both to be a bit more relaxed and you can get to know each other a little better. I would never ask anyone for their ID...although a recent health screen is much appreciated and welcomed if it goes beyond the meet and greet ...[;)]

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/5/2013 9:49:12 AM)

male or female, sub or dom, i would say hell no.

TheHeretic -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/5/2013 9:30:58 PM)

It would work out poorly, if somebody Googled me in advance. I have a pretty small internet footprint, but there was a rather nasty killer with the same name...

ivone57 -> RE: Male Dominants would you.... (9/5/2013 10:58:53 PM)

i dont know about personal information but references is another thing... ask for references and follow up with them... ya have to be safe..... [8|]

You think that's bad? I can be found through google, but I'm not the most popular "Lady Pact" search. You would not believe what comes up first.

One time, foolishly, I was making a comic strip to document the adventures of a video game character (I was proving a point about the game). The character was a sorceress which is, by definition, female. The goal was to see if I could progress with no equipment. So I came up with the name "NakedBabe"

Yeah, that drew a lot of hits that I suspect weren't video game related.
