CoCo is pissed. She does not like diapers.

dcnovice -> RE: In heat (9/7/2013 5:02:34 PM)

I've never seen a dog in diapers before.

Is she not house-broken?

ShaharThorne -> RE: In heat (9/7/2013 5:58:17 PM)

Dog owners used diapers for their pets when the bitch goes into heat. Something Bo needs to learn when Little Bit goes into heat again...

It tends to discourage the males.

TNDommeK -> RE: In heat (9/7/2013 6:02:02 PM)

Yes she is house broken. Very well trained in that aspect. She sings when she needs to go o-u-t. Lol

DesFIP -> RE: In heat (9/7/2013 6:03:17 PM)

You planning to breed her?

I had no idea. Thanks for the info!

Isn't that against TOS>

OOHHHHHHHHHH, you mean to another dog[8D]

TNDommeK -> RE: In heat (9/7/2013 7:16:05 PM)

Ha!!
No, I'm not gonna breed her.

ivone57 -> RE: In heat (9/7/2013 9:11:56 PM)

how cute she looks, miserable but cute

ShaharThorne -> RE: In heat (9/8/2013 3:02:39 AM)

Before Lizard and Bo moved, they were able to adopt out Little Bit's puppy. Father was a Chihuahua, Little was a terrier mix so Loki/Baby had the smallness of her dad but her mama's coloring. I was tempted to bring her home with me but she was not quite weaned yet...

needlesandpins -> RE: In heat (9/8/2013 4:43:18 AM)

i'm sorry but I think it's wrong to put those on a dog. you are denying her the right to clean herself. there is no wonder she looks miserable. if you are not planning on breeding from her then get her spayed. if you don't want to get her spayed then deal with the fact that you chose to get a bitch that will come into season a couple of times a year and spot on the furniture that you allow her on. those things are a breeding ground for infection.

could you not come up with some other solution like crating her with her own washable bedding instead so that at least she can clean herself? and not have that thing wrapped around her stomach and teats that may also be tender.

DesFIP -> RE: In heat (9/8/2013 9:51:32 AM)

I was trying to figure out the pup's age. I think this may be the first heat and I know many people prefer to wait until after the first heat to neuter.

Personally I prefer before, but that's a result of dealing with horses that were gelded late. They wind up behaving very stallion-like, which is not desirable in my book.

MasterCaneman -> RE: In heat (9/8/2013 3:29:18 PM)

She'll be fine without cleaning herself for a couple of days. My sister and her ex-husband bred them, and used those on the bitches that needed to take a break. But she still looks like she doesn't like those things...

Just kidding. She's a fine-looking dog there, K. [;)]

I also agree with this.
I think it's very cruel.

I don't agree with that statement
Most bitches constantly clean themselves.

How would you women like to stay in the same towel for days?
I bet you change them constantly and wash yourself in-between changes.
I know my daughter and OH change theirs at least half-a-dozen times a day.

And would you inflict that sort of logic on a human baby?
Same principal.
Constant changes and cleaning help to stop soreness and prevent infection.

I think diapers on dogs is a ridiculous idea and potentially dangerous for them.

TNDommeK -> RE: In heat (9/8/2013 4:24:01 PM)

Thank you Needles and Dwarf for your criticisms...although weren't asked for.

The diapers are changed regularly and aren't on her except for when she wants to be on the furniture.
I didn't *choose* her, she was a gift from my hubby. She will be spayed after this heat. To think that I wouldn't have sense enough to make sure the diaper isn't too tight or bothering her, is ludicrous.

Now that that's outta the way...

She is funny looking in her diapers, MC. Oh and I like the meme. Lol
Des, I'm gonna spay shortly. She just turned a year.

And yet you post a pic that clearly shows she is indeed 'bothered' by wearing them.

needlesandpins -> RE: In heat (9/8/2013 4:45:32 PM)

as with all things; you can't expect to post something like this and expect everyone to think it's great; it's not, and no-one has to be asked for an opinion before giving it whether it's liked or not. I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing to my dogs. mind you, were I to put that thing on my bitch she'd rip it off in moments and it would be all over the place so that she could clean herself. something doesn't have to be tight to be annoying. my bra fits me perfectly well all the time, but at certain times of the month it drives me nuts along with the rest of my body and clothes.

MasterCaneman breeding bitches needing a rest should be kept away from breeding dogs. if you don't have the facilities to do that you shouldn't be breeding. an in heat bitch being humped isn't getting a break she's being harassed by dogs. not only that but a persistent dog could get that thing off anyway. my bitches have never been near my dogs when in heat if not being served, and it's not like I have acres of space. if they are away from the dogs then there is certainly no call for diapers that shouldn't be on anything other than a baby.

We were working an active boarding/breeding facility. We did not keep the dogs caged (except in a few certain animals), we let them have as much freedom as was practically possible. We also took pains to let the dogs socialize so they didn't go crazy. The diapers were meant to allow the females time to recoup from making puppies. Dobermans are fragile animals, and we took a lot of precautions to ensure they were comfortable, safe, and healthy.
