Another good one:

Even Dershowitz understands how bad things are....

Yup, the nutsuckers in full slobber. How uninsightful they all are. Ineptitude breeds caterwaul.

FR,

Krauthammer's piece was good, but the Fernandez piece was harsh.

I hope Fernandez was wrong in assessing the damage to the Presidency of the US.

Krauthammer is whining about a speech that Obama gave explaining his reasons for feeling a strike is needed? I've searched and searched but all I've found is him cheerleading for W and the Iraq invasion. Why should we believe a guy who supported an invasion and occupation over fake WMD is now opposed to taking limited action against a scumbag who really did use WMD?

Why do these neocon cretins believe no one remembers their behavior a few years ago?

Krauthammer is commenting on the President's foreign policy "incompetence." Cheerleading for W's invasion of Iraq doesn't make him a hypocrite when criticizing him for saying he was going to strike Syria, then saying he was going to wait for Congress to vote on it, and then ask Congress to wait while Putin brokers a deal.

Nice attempt to deflect, though.

mnottertail -> RE: Brilliant expose on O's diplomatic incompetency (9/13/2013 12:19:06 PM)

You know we been pouring money into weaponry for the rebels, right? About three months now, thru the CIA and the weapons are just starting to trickle in.......I think that things have been set up so that the Assad you cannot arm the rebels or the deals off is not a position in play. I bet that Shithammer is not the only one who foresaw that Russia was gonna side with Assad (captain obvious, much?)... and are making fait accompli positions that we want to hold or avoid there and have been doing for sometime. Hell, the whole fuckoree can be done with the CIA if necessary.

How is it incompetent to try and build a real consensus over what to do? Asking congress to wait while a brand new development resolves is incompetent how exactly?

It's all about the going in, not going in, waiting, etc.

It's about the foreign policy that is almost like flapping in the wind. It's just all over the place. How can our allies realistically rely on us when we say something and don't make good on it? He said he was going to act. Then, he decided to go to Congress first (which I absolutely support). Then, he asks them to wait to see what happens with the Russia/Syria deal (which I also support). But, the better thing to have done, would have been to go to Syria's allies to start to broker a deal, not beat your chest and clash your swords to get them to come to you with a deal.

Did Obama and Biden lie when they said that Bush didn't have the authority to attack Iran?

mnottertail -> RE: Brilliant expose on O's diplomatic incompetency (9/13/2013 1:26:34 PM)

Like everyone else in the congress (and they were in the congress) they were power bidding based on their congressional view.

As executive, their views have changed to executive power views.

The only reason there is a deal on the table at all is because we were prepared to strike the Assad regime. Assad and his father have spent the last 30 odd years denying Syria had chemical weapons. Now they've admitted to having them and signed the chemical weapons ban.

I assure you that our allies are far more confident in US actions now than under W. Just listen to them.

So, when the nutsuckers said they were the party of fiscal responsiblity they were lying then and now.

When the nutsuckers said, there were chemical weapons used in Iraq, they are lying now and then.

When the nutsuckers wanted smaller government but raised the debt ceiling they were lying then or lying now.

When you said I explained the presidents military power based on the war powers act and later said you made a mistake, you were lying then and lying now.

When the nutsuckers said they were wal-mart repbulicans, they were lying then and now.

When the nutsuckers said anything, they were lying then and now.

I suspect both. This IS congress we're talking about right?[8D]

Over fake WMD eh?

While it is true that no significant stock piles of WMD's were found, it is nonetheless true that Hussein had a much longer history of using them. Against the Kurds, against the swamp people, against the Iranians. He specifically used chemical weapons in artillery shells to break the Iranian wave attacks.

Regardless.

The NY Times, the Post, der Spiegel, the Huffington Post - virtually every
major newspaper is leading with the disastrous and incompetent foreign policy and your responce is:

Its Bushes fault?

Snicker.

Yes, I need to have an address to the american people to ask them to wait.

Did you even read K's article?

Did you notice the story line on Kerry's inadvertent offer, which the state dept walked back, but then the president said - hey this could work.

Krauthammerr called it right - and this is how most of the world that aren't dim partisans see it.

cloudboy -> RE: Brilliant expose on O's diplomatic incompetency (9/13/2013 3:13:54 PM)

What makes it "brilliant?"

cloudboy -> RE: Brilliant expose on O's diplomatic incompetency (9/13/2013 3:58:27 PM)

Yet consider what’s happened over the last month. Assad uses poison gas on civilians and is branded, by the United States above all, a war criminal. Putin, covering for the war criminal, is exposed, isolated, courting pariah status.

And now? Assad, far from receiving punishment of any kind, goes from monster to peace partner.

I don't think it's been conclusively proven that Assad used poison gas on civilians. According to what I read in the NYT last SAT, members of Assad's team were beside themselves over their use without any authorization. I have yet to read who in fact used the poison gas. Putin, in his editorial claims the rebels used it to induce military action against Assad.

Krauthaumer makes some good points in his editorial, but his diatribe is lacking in whole and in part any kind of solution or recommendation that he thinks is appropriate. He also implies that the US and Russia can't share power in the Midddle East and work together in any kind of way. One thing about a Russian influence, it will help militate against Islamic extremism.

He also doesn't give Putin his due for noting that US military interventions in the region have been disastrous.
