i'm very glad that she was found is and being well cared for. well done you for stepping up and giving her a home. she really is beautiful! the boy said he'd give her a home any time. unfortunately though we are in the UK.

i'd love to see more photos of her as she recovers with you.

I hate people who think it is fine to dump their pets in the country. Most of the time, we have to scare them off or shoot them, especially if they are threatening the kids or livestock. Animal control only works in the city so those living in the county are screwed.

She is beautiful. I would take her in a heartbeat if we were closer.

I have been toying with the idea of setting up a webpage for her, as well as a few other special rescues that are going on in our network.

Either way, I will be posting pictures of her progress here for those interested. Probably start a thread in Random.

I always loved the wolf hybrids...every time I go see a friend, his pack would come up to me and I would be covered with licks. For some reason they accepted me as part of their pack.

You are to be praised for stepping up to the plate where so many other people would have just turned a blind eye.

Domesticated species such as felines and canines should only be trusted to homo sapiens who will love and care for them. The sad reality is that so many "people" see their furred companions as property, "things".

I love my furry family, I hold them I care for them and I am there when they move on.

Cheers to you good human!

Maybe the webpage could help raise funds for her recovery/placement.

This is my niece with her.

Kera is such a gentle creature, all she wanted was someone to rub her ears and belly. She was so calm in the car it was great. She clearly had been very codependent with a human at some point, she just craves attention.

We made a pit stop at Mineral Wells, the half way point where we let her walk, and get a drink. The woman who brought her to us said she had shared some greek blueberry yogurt with her, and at our pit stop I got her some chicken tenders. She likes fried chicken.

She alternated between drowsing on the back seat and looking out the windows, occasionally sticking her head between the seats for a little attention and reassurance.

She seemed a bit unsure about leaving with us, but she got in the car just fine.

At home she took to our other dogs like they have all been friends for ever, and she loves my great nephew. I didnt get a picture, but he up and hugged her as soon as she got out of the car.

The original plan was to foster her, but I have a sneaking suspicion she has found her forever home.

Along with stupid pet owners, I have to vent about stupid pet breeders.
That is an absolutely beautiful animal - and as a hybrid, I feel she shouldn't exist. Thousands of years of breeding domesticated the dog, and mixing them back with wolves isn't a good idea. The same applies to cat hybrids. People don't realize that they aren't just dogs or cats. They are part wild animal and will act accordingly.

Kudos to you for taking her in. I hope you both have a long healthy life.

I'm glad to hear she is home and safe with you. I don't think i'd be letting her go either. she really is a beauty. I hope she heals well and quickly. i'm sure she'll feel much better just for having a secure home and some love.

Her eyes remind me of Jake, an old 150# hybrid I adopted after his owner had to move and couldn't take him along.
The old guy decided that living indoors with AC vents to lie on was just perfect for the "Golden years".
He wasn't nearly as personable as your girl. I had to muzzle him any time we were out of the house as his idea of what to do with a perceived threat was to kill it but he was a great old beast for the 2 years I had him.

It seems to me that you are both lucky to have each other.
She's beautiful and seems so sweet!
I don't blame you for wanting to keep her on a permanent basis.

She is about 30 pounds underweight, was in a shelter in quarantine for three days before she got to a vet, her wounds were badly infected and she had a uterine infection. The vet advised us to feed her yogurt once a day because the antibiotics will mess up her digestive system. Occasionally she favors her back leg that has the gun shot wound, but she is an affectionate, people pleasing little girl.

She had two accidents after we got her here, which could have been from the total of six hours she spent in cars yesterday. Today she had one accident, which was more my fault since I didnt get the back door open in time.

Since we have our dogs on a feeding schedule, she ate last night in isolation, and we discovered she is not food aggressive, she let my toddler nephew hand feed her. This morning she wanted to eat with the main part of our "pack" and was just fine.

Until we get her weight up, we are feeding her three times a day.

Our other dogs accepted her with no problems, wanting to play with her after she got the sniff test.
