I agree with crazy. Either stay away from the Internet or invest in the Internet for Dummies book. Once you pay one, others will come, and the first one will come back for more. Sorry, man, but that's how the Internet scammers work. You may need to completely recreate your Internet presence after this. Best of luck to you.

DO NOT SEND MONEY TO OTHER USERS FOR ANY REASON!

At the top of every email you receive here at CollarMe is that message.

The reason why that is there is to remind members when common sense is a bit shaky.

It took someone 12 minutes to tell you it was a scam.
It took approximately 30 minutes for another person to give you a more definitive confirmation.

I explained things again less than 30 minutes later, just over an hour from your first SOS.

Assuming that the OP isn't pulling our collective legs... Extortion was still a crime, last I heard, even if the threat was fraudulent. Since it's on the net, and money has apparently changed hands, it's a federal offence, so I would advise involving the Suits as soon as possible.

What part of "It's a scam" did you not understand? What you got was the equivalent of the "I've got your nose" game that we play with kids... and they told you to pay to get it back.

You cannot be this dim.

I don't care if your friend was the finest hacker in the world, he would probably tell you that this was a scam. Since you had to send the money somewhere, get the authorities involved.

As for me:

I GOT YOUR NOSE!! $20,000 to get it back!

I call BS on this one. There is 7 minutes between his first post and second post. The first rely of "scam" was 5 minutes after that. Those 5 minutes in which "no one responded" is the reason given for paying the blackmail.

So what methods are there to pay someone $500 that only takes a few minutes? Wire transfer, Paypal, Charge Card and other online traceable methods. In which case, instead of his next post a couple hours later saying that he paid them, he would have posted that he called the police and reported them.

Would explain why we haven't heard back about the method of payment and other experienced site members already called this one out.

One wonders if the scammer is not the person [allegedly] asking for money or the extortionist exists at all.
