It isn't the view of Feminism so much as the viewpoints of individual women themselves. I hold ambivalent views toward Feminism. I'm old school, so I saw it evolving back in the 70s while I was growing up, cheered on a few of the higher-profile players, then watched in dismay and disillusionment as it mushroomed into a circus freak show, then wilted into seeming oblivion. Were there pro-active socio-economic reforms made in the workplace? Yes and no. By and large women still get paid less than men do for comparable positions. Does this sometimes give them an advantage in getting hired over a man whose minimum starting salary requirement is higher? Who's to know beyond the shadow of a doubt. Early in my career, there was more than one occasion where I trained a new male boss how to do his job, covered his derriere, made it possible for his lackluster, mediocre job performance to appear as though it shined in dazzling Technicolor. Once when I was a sr. analyst for a high-tech corp. where I'd worked for 7 years, I was stunned beyond belief to see my newly hired manager get awarded a Bronze medal for database conversions I had successfully implemented with the assistance of the computer programming consultant I was personally in charge of supervising day in & day out, the duration of the project. In my heart I knew it was because I was a female that I was entirely overlooked by all the old-crony directors, but I rationalized that this could have happened to anyone. The backstabbing, that is. quote:
ORIGINAL: DarkSteven IMO, feminism has different views inside and outside the bedroom. <snip> There are quite a few female subs that consider themselves feminists. I'll refrain from expressing my opinion of what other women choose to do in their private lives ostensibly under their own free will. Do I consider myself a feminist? Only by default, there being no other facsimile that comes anywhere close. On this site I selected Female Supremacy in my profile for the same reason. I'm not really an any-kind-of-supremacist. Some of the more radical philosophies espoused that I was exposed to at an early age were held by men. The late Robert Graves, for example, renowned scholar, mythologist, author of I, Claudius. I'm out of touch with what goes on re college campuses. Someone told me feminism runs rampant over in the U.K., but I don't see it impacting us in the U.S. other than a few ripple effects here & there in the mainstream. This is all tame Mickey-Mouse stuff in relation to the way it used to be in the tumultuous 60s & 70s, for better or for worse. _____________________________ * * * Not A Fetish/Kink Delivery System * * *
