She sounds like quite a character! That's a cliche, I know, but it truly seems apt in this case.

There used to be a poster, I wish I could remember who, who had a great sig file that your Mum stories bring to mind. It said something along the lines of she didn't want to die all pretty and peaceful. She wanted to go face flushed, clothes disheveled, and hair wild--saying "Wow! What a ride!"

When Dorothy Parker heard that Calvin Coolidge was dead, she famously asked, "How can they tell?" Doesn't sound like that will be a problem with your Mum!

When my eldest was 14. We lived by the beach. She came over on holiday. And wore these blue polka dot shorts. He said"granny do you realise I can see your pants (panties for you yanks - the shorts were see through)

She bought a thong for the next day.

She is really a character.

I love it! I'm not sure my Mom has ever even seen a thong.

The day she decided to make built in furniture ...

The day she decided to make the living and dining room open plan and dad wouldn't play ball. There was a sledge hammer. And a "well it's open plan now"

And that's before we get to the wrong car key incident.

And of course, bumgate.

Don't be a tease! Details, details--please.

She had a Morris marina car. Google it. In mustard yellow. Every so often it wouldn't start. She'd stop random men and get them to push start it. Especially embarrassing at school when you're 15 and it's the boyz at school.

Except. My dad worked in a factory. She had somehow got the master key to the forklift trucks :D it worked most of the time.

Oh she drove 25 miles with the handbrake on once. And 3 miles with a flat.

And put petrol in a diesel car. Twice. Which was, of course, my dad's fault because she doesn't do filling up the car.

Bumgate. OMG. Bumgate. I need wine.

Thank you so much for sharing these snapshots of your mum.

I look forward to more.

now we are getting there, save this in a document as you go. You'll have to show this to your grandchildren when they think you are a fuckin loon, about to take off on your last migration. Then they will know, you aren't 'arf of it.

Missdressed -> RE: I'm sorry I've not been here but you remember my mum was sick? (10/7/2013 1:04:00 PM)

Right. Bumgate.

I have a tattoo. On my bum. The day I got it done she had a friend visiting and wanted me to come to meet her. I didn't really want to but I was bulldozed into it.

So I go up and her and her friend have been having a few "wee swallies" and are pished as farts. Absolutely totally writ off. Sozzled. Drunk as skunks.

And they start dancing to dad playing guitar. Which then evolves into this daft dance of "bump bums". I wasn't going to say anything (FFs I was 40 but hell it was my mother) but it fucking hurt. So I said "you have to stop that I got a tatt today my bum is sore"

Cue show us your arse. Show us. So I drop my kecks and then off go her and her mate.

On their arses they have written in indelible sharpie.

On mothers coz she doesn't swear "fuck off"

And on her pals (who the joke is in love with my dad and wants to ravish him) "take me X I'm yours"

I needed brain bleach after seeing that.

Well today she says she is for signing herself out and coming home.

I've left that particular battle to my dad.
