Amber Alert It's down. I understand from twitter that Amber alerts are state level programs with a federal website. Not real sure how all that works but it just seems unfathomable that this website wouldn’t qualify under ‘essential’, especially when most of the government is still operating. Michelle Obama's Let's Move Up and running. Guess I can understand that. Obama not wanting to piss of the Missus and all. [8D]

The gall...the absolute unmitigated gall...Federal Amber Alert site shut down but Moochelle's site not. Same applies to the WWII Memorial "Rainbow Pool" fountains and "Reflection Wall" waterfalls being shut down but not the White House fountain. Washington DC parking enforcement wasn't shut down last Saturday either...at least not around the WWII & Korean & Vietnam Memorials.

Even with the site being down, the program is still up and running... but I can understand why it wouldve appeared that way initially.

It`s a state run program essentially. Not all states signed on at 1st but now every state and Canada has it.The alerts are broadcasts on radios, the interntz ,road/traffic signs and now electronic billboard advertisers and walmart electronic signage single the alerts.
