But no one is surprised any more with the lunatic fringe calling our President hitler or committing the most repugnant ,offensive conduct.

FR -

Of course, this won't shed any light.

NEWBURYPORT — Pat Vaillancourt went on a trip last week that was intended to showcase some of America’s greatest treasures.

Instead, the Salisbury resident said she and others on her tour bus witnessed an ugly spectacle that made her embarrassed, angry and heartbroken for her country.

Vaillancourt was one of thousands of people who found themselves in a national park as the federal government shutdown went into effect on Oct. 1. For many hours her tour group, which included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park hotel under armed guard.

The tourists were treated harshly by armed park employees, she said, so much so that some of the foreign tourists with limited English skills thought they were under arrest.

The seniors quickly filed back onboard and the bus went to the Old Faithful Inn, the park’s premier lodge located adjacent to the park’s most famous site, Old Faithful geyser. That was as close as they could get to the famous site — barricades were erected around Old Faithful, and the seniors were locked inside the hotel, where armed rangers stayed at the door.

“They looked like Hulk Hogans, armed. They told us you can’t go outside,” she said. “Some of the Asians who were on the tour said, ‘Oh my God, are we under arrest?’ They felt like they were criminals.”

Yeah, pictures or it didn't happen, and don't tell me a busful of asian tourists can't get a camera up amongst them.

I call horseshit.

More thuggery.

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. (AP) — A marathoner says he was fined $100 for running in Valley Forge National Historical Park during the government shutdown.

John Bell, 56, said he parked his car on Sunday in a remote parking lot, not one blocked by a barrier. Bell, of Chadds Ford, said two rangers were waiting with their car lights flashing when he returned.

mnottertail -> RE: "National Park Thugs"......?!.....Really?!?! (10/8/2013 12:54:03 PM)

The goons and thugs down in the house better do something about this, maybe they can get the fucking clown/convict Issa to investigate. So we never hear about it again.

Moonhead -> RE: "National Park Thugs"......?!.....Really?!?! (10/8/2013 12:56:20 PM)

So if there was a federal shutdown, what were federally employed thugs doing thugging on people?
They don't thug pro bono, do they?

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: "National Park Thugs"......?!.....Really?!?! (10/8/2013 5:36:03 PM)

For that matter, can we be certain the Valley Forge incident - if it happened - wasn't a couple of wannabees pulling a Zimmerman? Play-acting cops are getting to be all too common these days.

If a park were to be opened without "national park thugs" to help rescue stranded/injured hikers (not if but) when it happened.....there could easily be a death that would be preventable.

Why is it that the geopee closes down the government and scurries around to open any part who`s shutdown embarrasses them? That`s shrimp-level backbone.

The geopee better hope no one dies or gets seriously injured because of their maleficence and dereliction of duty.

Mighty Morphin' Nat Park Rangers!

Owner59 -> RE: "National Park Thugs"......?!.....Really?!?! (10/8/2013 11:55:06 PM)

The republicans are really quite dim and ham-handed here.

They really think that the parks can just be opened and to let tens of thousands of folks in without the small army of rangers, helicopter pilots and backwoods EMTs there to protect those folks.

It won`t be a matter of if but how many folks get hurt.

There are 20 or so deaths a year in the Grand Canyon(with a little more or less than 4 million visitors), mostly from exposure. And that`s WITH the available rescue personnel on duty.

Imagine what would happen if even a fraction of those 4 million were there without the rangers/thugs?

That may be true, but they're being upstaged big time.

There is something peculiar about Park Rangers on duty stopping people from entering a national park because [wait for it] there are no Park Rangers on duty. Huh? And why do there have to be Park Rangers on duty anyway? Where is it written that Americans aren't allowed to do anything without the government there to keep an eye on them? I mean seriously.

You'd almost think the Administration was trying to make the shutdown as painful as possible in the hope of stirring up animosity against the Republicans. But according to polls, most Americans were already against the shutdown, and already blaming the Republicans for it. Now they're watching a self-absorbed President sit for his portrait while people are being thrown out of their homes. Yeah, that'll piss them off at the Republicans.

Apparently the latest act in this circus is denying priests access to military chapels because of the government shutdown. How to win friends and influence people, eh? The shutdown gave Obama an opportunity to be seen as a hero by doing his best to limit its impact on ordinary people. Instead, the Republicans are starting to gain sympathy for opposing him.

Oh K,

What a thoughtful and benevolent reply to my thread.....Muah![;)]

But to answer you better, my friend,I`ll refer you to my post in the bigoty-birtherally named "Barrycades" headed with " The extortionists are starting to make the innocent victim`s families bleed..... "Shutdown Hits Navy Shipyards Hard"

The party you defend and coddle but claim not to be in is going to hurt a lot of good hardworking Americans who`s families will also suffer.

And for what?

The geopee is going to cause a lot of damage hidden and not so hidden. Damage felt immediately and damage felt down the line.

And for what?

To shut down a ship yard cost a small fortune and to start one back up costs a small fortune.

And for what

The party you defend and coddle but claim not to be in is going to fucking lose this ugly.

I read it. But (there's always a "but") I have a question. It says...

Due to the lapse of appropriations, the majority of civilian personnel assigned to Navy research, development and acquisition are in a non-pay furlough status, Cmdr. Thurraya Kent said in a written statement.

Aren't the Navy's research and development activities an essential component of maintaining a competent national defense? Why are they being shut down? Meanwhile...

Navy expects bonus, travel and separation payouts to resume this week

It's almost as if the Administration is trying to make the shutdown as disastrous as possible.

And in case you didn't notice, my post was making the point that Obama could have easily been miles ahead on this instead of giving the Republicans one card after another to play against him.

You can't do much with a bad hand except bluff.

Owner59 -> RE: "National Park Thugs"......?!.....Really?!?! (10/9/2013 12:53:33 AM)

Those are the geopee lying points,yes....thank you for those.

But the more sophisticated thinker knows that the President hardly has the time to cherry pick who get`s fucked.

The shut down fucks everyone.......... to some degree. Some are getting a paid vacation while somewhere else,parents are being tortured by having the Amber Alert fucked with .

For that matter, the mental midgets in the party you defend don`t have the time to cherry pick what to close either.

They have their hands to full putting out the fires that are the most embarrassing to them and brow-beat park rangers for that....

If he has time to sit for portraits and decide who to point his finger at on his fucking Kill List, he can damn well make some time to think about the American people.

He`s not holding the gun to our head threatening/doing harm ,demanding a ransom to open the government.

He has neither the power to close nor open the government.

The phony agreement that he can open the government by giving into extortion is really quite ridiculous...

We know the phony-blaming, trying to put your shutdown on the President, is comforting but no one normal or awake is buying the act.

And he`s not going to pay a ransom demand in order for them to fulfill their fiduciary responsibility.

he stayed home from a very important Asia meeting to deal with your leaders.....The word was it wasn`t helpful.

So bullocks to your stupid party`s narrative that the President isn't doing his job.

It`s the party you defend and rebroadcast for that should just do their job and pay our bills on time and get back to their normal pastime...impotently trying to repeal the ACA for the 44th time.....

Owner59 -> RE: "National Park Thugs"......?!.....Really?!?! (10/9/2013 1:21:19 AM)

If we give into the extortion....what long-term efforted,geopee goal will they extort from Americans next ?

The geopee-pee has been for decades, since it was enacted, trying to get rid of Social Security.

Same with Medicare. There is along history of republicans trying to weaken or end Medicare going back to it`s beginnings.

Just pick a republican scapegoat/target....any scapegoat/target and insert.

Will the close the government and cost us billions, jobs, more damage done, for those ends while claiming it`s for our own good?

There is absolutely NOTHING saying the cons couldn`t or would not do that too.

Here's the thing, Owner...

I'm a registered Independent. So both parties get a shot at my vote. But I'm not a close follower of politics, so I tend to listen to what other people say and try to get a feel for things that way.

When one side seems to harbor a lot of name-calling assholes, I'm not inclined to give them much credit. I figure that's not a smart decision on their part, so their other decisions probably aren't very smart either.

And if they talk about the importance of being "sensitive" and "caring" when its obvious from their manner that they're not much of either, I tend to write them off as pathological liars.

I just mention that in passing, of course, by way of full disclosure, as a public service you might say, so that anyone who wants to can figure out how they're doing.

Have a nice day.

Reaction against the NPS is growing. (BTW, as a frequent backcountry hiker in YNP, GSMNP, and others, I have rarely had anything but the most pleasant of interactions with NPS, and had heretofore held them in the highest regard. My youngest has spoken of working for them).

I can only hope they deeply regret some of the things the 0bamao admin is forcing them to do.

One J. V. Last has an article in The Weekly Standard that hits some of the low points. One takeaway quote:

"Think about that for a minute. The Park Service, which is supposed to serve the public by administering parks, is now in the business of forcing parks they don’t administer to close. As Homer Simpson famously asked, did we lose a war?"

No, Homer, not yet.

Full article here.

Hell, next thing I'll almost believe is that there is gambling in Las Vegas.

On a purely subjective note... it seems to me that the media went much farther out of their way to blame Rs in '94 than now. Your impression?
