Winterapple -> RE: Do streakers deserve a life sentence on the sex offender list? (10/9/2013 7:45:40 PM)

FR
It's tragic that the boy took his life. I have to imagine
there were other variables in play and this incident was
the tipping point. But it's ridiculous that doing something
like this would put someone especially a fifteen year old
someone on a list with sex offenders. The baby is being
thrown out with the bath water.

I don't consider myself an exhibitionist at all but I've had
sex outside(multiple times, multiple places) and in semi public places.
I've also been naked and half naked in places that would be
deemed public.

Sad to think that some of life's innocent pleasures like skinny
dipping in a lake, having sex in the backseat of a car at a
drive in (yes they still exist) or at the designated lovers lane,
pulling over during a road trip to blow or get blown, mooning,
streaking and taking a piss outside are now considered hanging
offenses.

Well shit. You might as well just go on a killing spree then, huh?

Some people are so ready to be good little sheep for the next round of Nazis, aren't they?

Don't want to get charged for violating indecency statutes and risk the chance of being put on sex-offender lists? Don't whip out your junk in public. It's pretty simple.

The laws may indeed suck, but you have to take responsibility for your own actions.

There's nothing sexual about simple nudity. That's definitely cruel and unusual punishment. It does not fit the crime. As bad as cutting off a hand for stealing a loaf of bread. Yes, a community has every right to decide that nudity should not be allowed, but that doesn't mean this is okay.

I once had sex outside in a very dark area in the trees in a park at night.

When we finished, the homeless guy who'd been trying to sleep there lit up a cigarette. Wow did we bust out laughing.

Why would you assume that? Kinky doesn't equal exhibitionist.

No, but the thrill of the risk of getting caught without actually getting caught isn't exhibitionism, and it's way more common than the stuff we do, and just like the stuff we do, people will keep pushing the edge and pushing the edge.

Of course, this doesn't really have anything to do with OP, which was just a stupid prank. I'd much rather see people get punished harshly for what I just described than for a stupid streaking prank, although I wouldn't like to see either one. If someone's caught having sex by a child in public, it would actually be damaging, which is the entire point, but no child is going to be harmed by streaking. It's taking restrictions that exist for good reasons to a silly extreme.

I was fucking on little riverside beach one night, and a cop threw the spotlight on us from the bridge above. I told him to take that fucking light out of my eyes, and he went away.

That's a clear-cut case of "fuck, the guys are never going to let me live this down if I bust these clowns".

My gut feeling after reading this article is that the student's death had little to do with the law or school policy, and everything to do with an emotionally unstable kid who had the HAMMER OF THOR thrown at him by authority figures to scare him into submission. He had very little chance of actually being put on the sex offenders list according to the article. When I was in residence at university, streaking got you a talking to from your RA. This kid was ARRESTED.

Well, maybe some of that, but when the chick is on top, it doesn't look much like a rape, either.

slavekate80 -> RE: Do streakers deserve a life sentence on the sex offender list? (10/10/2013 10:35:16 AM)

They went too far to "make an example" out of him. He did something stupid, but the punishment was unnecessarily severe... a lecture about why that was dumb, and a temporary ban from going to school sporting events, seems like it would be a lot more appropriate.

Why do some people make a big deal out of non-sexual nudity? It's one thing to say it's not okay in public and set up reasonable measures to deter it, if that's the cultural standard like it is in most of the USA, but the pearl-clutching and fainting over it are ridiculous.

I'm sorry, but that child had more problems than getting in trouble for streaking. I feel for his family and their loss, but everything is not a lawsuit or a reason to make a new law.

I was in some potentially serious trouble in my early 20s and not once did suicide ever cross my mind.

-----

I do think that urinating in public should not equal sex offender.

-----

I have had sex outdoors.

The sex offender list is the sex offender list. People don't care about distinctions and subcategories of the list.
