ORIGINAL: LittleGirlHeart i never leave her and the babies un attended, i was hoping though to teach her these chickens are a no no. And she was curious but not making any motions to hurt them or nothing. she just stared and stared and stared, fixedly at them. We have had chickens before, they were all grown up by the time she came along though, and i know for a fact she'd eat or hurt one of them given the chance, she did once already through my dad's neglect to fix the fence properly. she attacked one and tore it's back open but it lived thankfully. And ever since then my dad fixed the fence and she has not done anything to try to get the birds, she hasn't been given a chance to either. I think this is not a good thing. but i dunno. for those of you who do not remember or know Calley is an 11 year old Golden retriever i adopted from homeward bound when she was about to turn 10. Can she even be taught not to bother these chickens? after all i do understand she is a hunting type dog by nature. and sometimes you hve to start them as p uppies, and she is far from a pup. There is that.
