Thanks for the answers all, I went in and reset the hibernation and shut down under the power supply settings, and it seems to have done the trick. It's been up and on and running for 2 days now. I did get a battery just in case. Lookie, she may be 10 years old, but there's still life in the old girl......never judge an old horse by the gray hair! :p I know it's 10 years old, but until it totally can't be used anymore, I'll run it into the ground. I hate laptops, and can't afford a new desktop right now. Igor, I never thought of the hard drive either. I didn't realize they go "bad". I had planned on getting someone to look at it anyway, once I'm mobile again, I'll get it done. I just recently moved here, and haven't located a best buy or anyplace like that. It would be better if I could just upgrade the one I have now...hard drive and OS. Maybe at tax time, I'll have a refund coming this year.
