OK, I admit to not knowing what 'UM' is an abbreviation for. I think it's generally used when referring to offspring/children, but I could find no definition online. Would someone please enlighten me?

I think it stands for unmentionables.

yes MistressDarkArt you have it correct UM = unmentionables which is when a person is talking about their kids. In my case i will tend to use UM or Chipmunk when talking about my child.

I've clearly been in the travel industry too long, because to me it means unaccompanied minor.

There may have formally been a rule or the assumption of a rule that one could not mention one's children, and people used "Um" for "unmentionables" to circumvent this. This is no longer a rule (but please no pictures of them, or anyone under 18, or who looks like they may be under 18.)

You already got the story on the "UM" thing. I always thought the most imaginative was one poster who would call them apples. As in "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

If I recall correctly, there was some debate on whether or not you were showing off another type of unmentionable on that 'men in panties' thread.

Yeah that was funny, now everybody thinks my weiner is thumb sized cuz they thought my thumb was my weiner.

Here is a hint for all you Einsteins, my thumb has got to be bigger than my weiner, cuz that is what it was covering up.

What I was told, when I first found CM, was that U.M. was short for Underage Minors

I always thought that was rather redundant.

I have a fairly interesting question about this: what if I wanted to post an older photo of my (now) 25 year old son who was 16, at the time?
