ORIGINAL: JeffBC You may say what you will. The truth remains. There are conversations that normal, sensible, law-abiding American citizens no longer wish to have over digital communication channels. In at least some cases, the people I'm referring to would be well positioned to understand what is and is not being recorded and similarly good position to understand exactly why they might or might not choose to speak about it. The fact that you don't have this concern doesn't make it unreal and the people I'm referring to are anything but tinfoil hatters and marginalized malcontents. Those concerns are shared by ... well ... a pretty broad swath of world governments -- the most recent one I read about was Germany. Sure, Jeff. I don't disagree, and we've discussed it before, along with me sharing my concern that the window where We The People might be able to step up solidly and force change is going to close, because too many alleged liberals turned out to be nothing but obedient little Obamabot sheep. Those few who will raise their voices are getting no amplification, and no assistance in carrying the message, from a media that is obsessed with not only protecting the President from any criticism, but demonizing any who voice opposition. No doubt, as soon as someone with the wrong letter by his name occupies the Oval Office (and with the Obamacare fiasco, that may well be the case for a generation) all those alleged liberals will suddenly be told to bleat a different tune, but will there still be any meaningful hope to correct course? To leap from our current state of affairs though, to implying a moral equivalency between the US of today and a despotic regime that requires the people to fill a sports stadium and watch human sacrifice by machine gun fire? I say again, for fuck's sake, Jeff, don't be an asshat.
