Why would a young person bother to sign up ? Obamacare covers them on their parents policy until they are 26..This bill is a fiasco, and I am enjoying watching the train wreck happen.

I can usually enjoy watching most liberal fuck ups but this one has affected me negatively. If I want health insurance I have to pony up the extra dough. I can't wait to watch this train wreck goes down in flames.

The key demographic needed to subsidize the older and/or more expensive people, from all I've read, is 18-35 year olds. Why someone 18-26 would purchase separate insurance, I'm not sure, but it might have more to do with cost to the parents and what the "kid" has available. That is, if it's going to cost the parents more than it's going to save the kid, they might decide for the kid to keep his/her own employer-sponsored insurance, provided that option is there. If the kid will not have insurance without the parents' plan, it's likely that kid won't have to purchase insurance on his/her own until after age 26.

You still need those 35 and under people signing up, though. They tend to cost less, so their premiums will help subsidize those people that cost more.

They are not signing up. If they get sick or injured and need insurance, they just pay the penalty and that's it. They are covered.

And so pride goes before a fall.

The hubris of the few in congress thinking they knew better.

Knew better than the other party. Knew better than people that worked in the industry. Knew better than than the american people - who have said now for three years. We don't want this crap.

And yet our rulers insisted on imposing it.

The only thing that yet remains is to see if democracy remains....

Obamacare plans cutting doctors...........

Not at all, typical lying Geobbels style disinformation.  You didnt even read the article, and nowhere did it say, or intimate that statement.

UHC is dumping some of their get paid for tests doctors in favor of get paid for outcome doctors, which is exactly what we want.  Nothing UHC has is Obamacare plans.

Phydeaux -> RE: Epic Fail. Current Obamacare enrollment (11/19/2013 4:46:51 AM)

Apparently you missed this?

"Instead of a scalpel, United is using a chain saw," said Michael Saffir, a rehabilitation specialist and president of the Connecticut State Medical Society, which estimates the insurer has cut 2,200 doctors across the state.

mnottertail -> RE: Epic Fail. Current Obamacare enrollment (11/19/2013 4:53:50 AM)

Nope didnt miss a fuckin thing.  But you missed this:

UnitedHealth said its provider networks are always changing and that it expects its Medicare Advantage network "to be 85% to 90% of its current size by the end of 2014," although it declined to say how many doctors are being cut in individual states or what criteria it is using.
The company said it is managing its network, in part, to provide more value for members, particularly given Medicare's new five-star rating system that ties bonus payments for insurers to certain measures of cost and quality.

And you missed this:

UnitedHealth Group reported a third-quarter profit of $1.57 billion last month, but Chief Executive Stephen J. Hemsley has issued cautious outlooks for 2014, citing expected cuts in Medicare payments tied to the Affordable Care Act.

Ah, lets see any change is going to cost more money, and be less profits.  Then it happens, and costs go up and profits go up.  Give Hemksley another 1.95 million on his bonus to match what he gets now.  (just bonus)

Phydeaux -> RE: Epic Fail. Current Obamacare enrollment (11/19/2013 5:07:06 AM)

No, actually, I didn't miss any of this.

I'm against obamacare, remember?

Even idiots such as jonathan chait are acknowledging that obamacare is forcing narrower and smaller health provider networks as a way of controlling costs....

mnottertail -> RE: Epic Fail. Current Obamacare enrollment (11/19/2013 5:14:17 AM)

LOL.  Good. then they wont be too big to fail.  We have had enough of the healthcare corporate gluttons, killing competition by takeovers and mergers.

That is fuckin great news for Americans.
