farglebargle -> Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 7:48:58 AM)

Given that health insurance companies don't provide any healthcare services, and are by definition an expense, by bother wasting money on them?

If all they are is an expense, then why do we have them, in the first place?

papassion -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 10:24:43 AM)

Obviously because we need someone who knows how to run a healthcare system. Clearly, the government does not. Correct me if wrong, but aren't most public option healthcafe systems in the world, running into problems and are unsustainable?

You are wrong as always, and corrected.  Additionally, the private sector does not know how to run a healthcare system.

The private sector runs well enough, arbeit with government interference (different argument), the distribution / transportation of goods, airlines, manufacturing, entertainment, etc. What is the qualification government possesses that makes it different in its ability to run a highly complex system? If you are correct, every mom and pop shop to APPLE and Microsoft would be better run by government. Interesting that government has asked i.e. GOOGLE to come fix its mess.

What is observable is different from your procaimed ability of government. [:D]

I'm amazed that Steve Jobs was even capable of tying his shoes let alone, even single-handedly, run such as to make APPLE and iProducts. Please, MN, tell us how that was possible?

edit: It's amazing how many in government have never worked in the private sector at all. If you are correct, MN, they should be the cream of knowledge having never been polluted by PS incompetence. Obama has never worked in the private sector. He should be magnificent.

NO, you take a bridge too far.  By example, who runs the government oversight of Wall Street?  Folks who were the best and brightest of Wall Street - biggest bonuses, talked up in WSJ and Forbes and all the sheep shearing propaganda organs (under the guise of capitalism)  and fucked you then and are superfucking you now.

Same with all other departments.  Yachtie will never be Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of Agriculture (or those right under him if it is a plum job) are the guys who have multi-million dollar corporate spreads, and took all the PIK money and crop subsidies, and CRP Payments.

When they do it privately, the fools come here and go FREE-MARKET, and Merika!!! and all that.  And they hit the government and come out of the shadows where you can actually see a little bit of the fuckin they give you and weep and gnash your teeth.

Actually, though in those two specific instances Apple and Microsoft, they would be better run by the government.

I'll leave you alone here and sit back in wonderment.

Consider yourself corrected.

Even the several such systems that operate in the US are fine. A very stressed but still functioning fully socialized system is the VA's Tricare. The only problem it is having is too many people needing the same two kinds of care, amputation aftercare and PTSD care.

A lengthy career based on stealing other people's work.
Name one Apple product that Jobs designed and/or programmed himself. There aren't any. Even the work he sold to Atari he freeloaded off Steve Wozniak.
You could have picked a better example of capitalist production than that freeloading twat...

mnottertail -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 11:15:22 AM)

And no better to be said for Gates and windoze.  (Except not so much stealing from Woz, but some).

Moonhead -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 11:34:34 AM)

I actually have a bit more respect for Gates than Jobs: he at least started off as a programmer and did code a lot of the early Microsoft product, so however shitawful it was, he had a hand in producing it. Jobs couldn't have managed that if his life had depended on it.

mnottertail -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 11:35:22 AM)

fair point, narrowly.

Tail, I bet you believe in "global warming" (or whatever they're calling it this week) too, right?

mnottertail -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 11:37:17 AM)

eye, you believe in wallowing in the government trough this week and every week, don't ya?

Moonhead -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 11:47:26 AM)

You feel he that should turn down his pension cheque if he's going to keep dissing the (evil and useless) guvvamint?

mnottertail -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 11:52:19 AM)

Well, he has had socialized medicine for around 30 or more years now, gets a check from the government, and if I were to go scrounge some threads from the days has admitted to a great deal of malingering while in service, and so when he says that statement, I guess I gotta believe it, cuz what would he be without the governments dole?

Moonhead -> RE: Is the time right for a PUBLIC OPTION? (11/15/2013 12:00:19 PM)

Desperate, at a guess.
Or maybe he's just sore because the chimp's welfare cuts did away with his medicaid and pension?

Kaiser Permanente is healthcare coverage and healthcare services.
