Yeah, live in a world with them and get back to me, cuz I deal with those fuckin doughnut holes on a regular basis.

And there is always stand your ground.  Against them too.

That's my families business, I went military instead.
It is just wonderful protecting people who hate you.

It has been my personal experience that those who really hate cops are the ones doing shit that might get their attention. I can't think of a single person who hasn't been in trouble with the law that felt that way. Personally I can't imagine living in a world where there where none and everyone was free to do what ever the fuck they wanted regardless of who they hurt. My friends husband is one of the first and goes on rants about how those lousy cops keep trying to ruin his life because they keep busting him for drunk driving and took his licence for a while because of it. Of course the time some guy was coming by his house trying to sell stolen stuff he had no problems calling them for help but I suppose that was different. At least to him. I am still trying to figure out why she stays with him.

You are correct, there is a direct correlation between how many times a person has screwed up and the intensity of their dislike for cops.
In situations like we are discussing they overstepped their bounds if they do something, their cowards if they don't.

That is some real fatass asswipe there.   No correlation.  I'm betting I am pretty clean here as it goes.  Lazy fuckers when you try to get a charge, uh.....civil matter.  When your house gets robbed and you have irrefutable proof of the possession of stolen goods by the perp and they have him in jail on another charge..........and everything goes away cuz he is a fuckin snitch, and I say what now?  They say, you are not a priority.  And so on..........lol, fuckin doughnut holes.

No. you clearly have no idea what its like. It’s the life of a cop. Your stuff, and your person gets vandalized (or injured) as a routine part of the job. You, your spouse and even your children get threatened. It’s a thankless job and laughable part is that the manager and Wendy’s is probably making more money than you. It changes nothing. If cop really wants to be a hero he should stay alive for his family and for his fellow officers because there is nothing more fucked up to a cop than having to bury another cop.

I know exactly what it is like my dad was a cop.
If you don't stop it, take action it gets worse.
Next would have been the car windows, then the tires, then the house windows when does it stop?
Cop should just accept being a victim, now that is foolishness.

No one should "just accept" being a victim. But there a whole lot of options between "just accepting" and confronting someone on the streets. Call 911, have the perps picked up, press charges, take them to court, sue their parents for damages.

And he did not call the cops. He asked someone else to call them after he had already confronted the boys on the street. (That option obviously did not work out well for him.) If your dad was a cop then you should know what its like to want him to come home alive and safe everyday. Everyday a cop can go home alive to his family is a successful day.

So he did get it called it.
He used bad tactics, should never have let himself be surrounded.
Molina is still the good guy here and the street thugs are still wholly responsible for the murder.

You asked for this info

Self Defense Statutes
(Texas Penal Code)

(a) Except as provided in Subsection (b), a person is justified in using force against another when and to the degree he reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the other's use or attempted use of unlawful force.

(b) The use of force against another is not justified:

(1) in response to verbal provocation alone;

(2) to resist an arrest or search that the actor knows is being made by a peace officer, or by a person acting in a peace officer's presence and at his direction, even though the arrest or search is unlawful, unless the resistance is justified under Subsection (c);

1) if, before the actor offers any resistance, the peace officer (or person acting at his direction) uses or attempts to use greater force than necessary to make the arrest or search; and

(2) when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the peace officer's (or other person's) use or attempted use of greater force than necessary.

Clearly this standard was not met

Well, we dont know he hasnt met the standard.  The guy being a police officer is not proof tht the kid knew he was an officer positively, saying, hey Im a cop don't mean shit.  The kid stood his ground.

If you need to cling to that go right ahead.
You are aware that identifying himself as and officer generally involves showing his badge.

Love is blind, and sometimes stupid.

Yes it is.

And standing your ground requires an actual (not imaginary) clear and imminent danger of death or severe bodily injury.

The 3 against 1 odds and the post unconsciousness beating clearly eliminates that as a possibility

Logic again, when will you learn?

mnottertail -> RE: El Paso police officer murdered by unarmed 17 year old (11/23/2013 5:05:23 AM)

generally or not, nobody gives a fuck, a badge dont mean shit, generally.  And it is speculation at this point whether he showed it or not, anyone can get a badge.

How did I know you were going to say that.
There are plenty of costume shops with police "uniforms" and anyone can paint a car.
So go ahead and kill the cop, then claim self defense cause you didn't believe it?
Get real that isn't going to fly.

EdBowie -> RE: El Paso police officer murdered by unarmed 17 year old (11/23/2013 12:52:53 PM)

Violently attacking cops who approach you because there is a faint chance their badges may be counterfeit, does carry with it a certain risk of getting one's nutsack kicked up between one's shoulder blades.

CARROLLTON -- Carrollton police say a man posing as a police officer sexually assaulted a handcuffed woman in the backseat of his car Thursday morning on I-35E between the Valley View Lane and Valwood Parkway exits.

Between 9 and 10 a.m. the female driver was stopped by a dark-colored, four-door vehicle (possibly a Ford Crown Victoria) with dark-tinted windows and blue lights on the interior of the windshield. The suspect asked the woman to get out of her vehicle, handcuffed her, and put her in the back of his car, where the assault took place, according to Carrollton police spokesperson Nicole Rodriguez.

A cop is a cop
but if not, if not
he'll do things to you
when you stop, you stop
but if a cop
and you do not stop
you'll be in trouble
a lot, a lot

A few years back there was a serial rapist here in Alabama.
He would pull the victims over like it was a traffic stop.
The troopers sent female officers in private cars into his "territory"
He stopped one.
When backup arrived on scene the officers .357 was empty.

Of course Molina wasn't trying to rape anyone.
Note that the excerpt of Texas law I quoted made a provision for this situation.

Wait a minute...was this guy in uniform? Was he driving a police car? No? As far as showing a badge or ID, I have no idea whether he did or not. So why are you bringing up that nonsense? If some guy drives up to me in a family car, gets out all irate, then shoves me, whether he showed a possibly phoney badge or not, chances are that isn't going to sit too well with me. He wasn't trying to detain the kid...he just shoved him. At that point I think the kid had a bit of a right to self defense. However, continuing to pummel the guy when he was down and out went above and beyond self defense. To me, that is where he would, and should, have problems.

When I was in my early teens, I was with my dad when he was making a left hand turn into a parking lot. It was late afternoon, and the sun was glaring off of the tail lights making them difficult to see. The guy behind us nearly ran into us while we were waiting for traffic to clear to make the turn. The guy pulled in behind us, got out of his car all irate, pulled out a badge and flashed it at my dad and started yelling at him, saying he hadn't signaled. My mother asked to take a closer look at the badge. The guy was a fucking meat inspector. Just because somebody flashes a badge doesn't mean they are a cop. Especially if they are all irate and shoving people.

EdBowie -> RE: El Paso police officer murdered by unarmed 17 year old (11/23/2013 2:43:51 PM)

So we are back to another claim... that 3 on 1 (after vandalizing a car) is now the definition of self defense?

Come on Igor, you know full well that I am running the previous argument to it's conclusion.
The story stated that he identified himself as an officer.
You should know that showing a badge is part of id-ing when not in uniform.
If you can pretend the badge must be fake why can't you pretend the uniform is?

Plus the reasonable possibility the picked his car because they already knew he was a cop.
