he biopsy for her mammary tumers came back. she has cancer. some sort of carcinoma, it's a medium grade so it's not super aggressive, but she will be going in for surgery on Monday. They hope after removing these masses, she will be fine, so that is something, but removing these don't meann she is out of the cancer woods, they can show up again.

Thank you NuevaVida! We caught it early, so that's something. I just can't help wondering the whole time we've had her to the vets why nobody but the new vet. but the important thing is it was caught.

thank you both. i am really concerned because she was under for a mass removal in april, and being 10 almost 11 in january, it's supposed to be really hard on them to go under again so soon.

She's a golden retriever as I recall. Goldens are prone to fast growing cancers so they literally may not be there to be felt one day and be too big to operate a week next.

Here's hoping she does well.

Not only tumors but other sudden onset diseases like blindness, and the inability to get up and walk and other stuff, which i didn;t know when i got a golden. but i will love her all the same.

Did you feel a rush of awesome power when you hit "post" on this one?

I really hope it gave you a lift.

And, don't spoil that feeling of superiority you felt by considering, even for a moment, what your comment says about you as a human being.

Did you not read where she says that her beloved dog is 10 going 11 years old... She is not going to give her back, nor did I see where she said she can't afford it...

Hillwilliam -> RE: the news about calley may is not good. her tests are in. (11/30/2013 10:30:59 AM)

My old bloodhound had a couple of tumors removed and then when they came back a third time, the vet and I figured she was too old to survive the anesthesia so I'd just make her as comfy as possible for her remaining days as they popped up in multiple sites.

3+ years later, she finally passed at age 13 1/2 (bloodhounds are only supposed to make it 9-10)

Calley may have a lot of years left in her just remember to hug her and watch for signs of suffering. Not all cancers move fast as poppy was proof of.

5 years go I was asked to take in a cat that was at least 12 years old and I did.

2 1/2 years later I was concerned because he had lost quite a bit of weight.
I took him to the vet and was told he had an intestinal tumor, and had a month or 2.

The vet did not chatise me for not bringing him in for regular care.
He complemented me on the love the cat obviously received.
And with regular examinations, the result would have been exactly the same.

The kitty spent his last couple of months in my room where he was totally spoiled.
And when it was time, we made a final trip to the vet.

The dog needs surgery and the dog is going to have surgery.

My brother had a golden retriever who develop tumors...we made him as comfortable as possible and when it got too much and him put to sleep. Mom had a cocker spaniel that she loved to pieces but when he became deaf and blind and a tumor develop in his brain, we knew he had to go down. He is buried under the cedar tree next to the trailer.

Hill, she has it going for her that they were found and dealt with quickly. litterly they were not there, then in late october they were and the biopsy was done almost until the end of nov and it came back quicker than the 14 days then in a week of finding out what it was, they were taken out.

It's not super aggressive and we got it out super soon, and the vet said there's a good chance it's gone forever, but there's a small chance it's not. so keep an eye on her, keep an eye out for changes in eating, drinking, breathing abilities cuz at this stage they dunno if it has metastasized into her lungs.

We were not that fortunate with our other dog, she had an aggressive form and when i first felt it, it was already a huge golf ball size, and i let someone talk me into not being concerned and rushing her right to the vet. so by time it was noticed, it had spread, and there was no point in operating. it was in her lymp nodes, and her throat and we opted to have her put on prednisone to hopefully slow the spread, and it didn't work. so from diagnosis to to sick to live, it was only 7 weeks, but she was really happy up until the last week of her life.

She gets everything she needs, just about, sometimes she has to wait till i save it up, sometimes i am left hurting for the rest of the month, and sometimes i have to borrow it from a trusted person and it puts me in debt to them, financially, but id rather be in debt to them than some company who will not be flexible on payments.. But It can never be said i don't try my best by her.

infact, my dad used to say i was overly eager to take them to the vet for every lil bump and scrape and i needed to not take them so often, but i would go with my gut and every single time, with regards to a few exceptions i was right to take them in. and in a few cases they were days away from something quite nasty like a fox tail puncturing their ear drum , or ni Gingers case Cancer.

LittleGirlHeart -> She is home, they said she did absolutely fine. (12/2/2013 7:04:16 PM)

WEnt under fine came out fine, was quiet and docile. they said she is one of their most quiet patients, she doesn't say anything at all when she has to be caged, most their clients howwl and raise cain.

I feel bad for her, not only was she hoodwinked, she thought this was going to be another in and out with in a short time, like usual she was so happy to see the dr's and be there and then turns out she had to stay all day They took off two of her nipples, poor girl, but better to take a wider selection of tissue that to air on less and have it be diseased and it just hasn;t shown up yet.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: She is home, they said she did absolutely fine. (12/2/2013 7:15:23 PM)

Wishing you both the very best.
