I'm surprised this hasn't come up already.
http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2013/12/18/appointees-who-resigned-in-wake-of-bridge-controversy-retain-attorneys/

In short back in the fall for no apparent good reason 2 lanes of the entry ramp to the GW bridge into Manhattan from Fort Lee, New jersey were close without warning. Causing massive traffic jams and interfering with first responders in the city.

It turns out it came at the order of a Chris Christie appointee to the Port Authority. Various lies have been told but they have all fallen apart. Speculation is that this was retaliation for the mayor of Fort Lee refusing to endorse Christie's re-election.

Even for New Jersey politics this strikes me as a little too blatant. Any guesses as to how badly this hurts Christie's Presidential ambitions?

Would this constitute a drive-by politicking?

I believe it will hurt Christie unless the blame can ultimately be placed solely at the feet of the two appointees who have resigned.
I also believe that when this matter reaches the point in some legal proceeding where formal depositions are taken, both of the appointees will swear that they acted unilaterally and without direct orders from Christie - unless doing so will result in jail time for one or both.

Imagine if someone was hurt by this....or hurt worse because traffic was stopped.....like someone in an ambulance or on their way to the ER?

Imagine someone acting as belligerently petty or as reckless, in charge of the most powerful nation on earth.... ?

It's like something out of the Sopranos.

According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the GWB carries approximately 106 million vehicles per year. Doing the math, that averages to over 290,000 per day. Closing two lanes would be a mighty spiteful trick for that rebellious NJ mayor who refused to endorse Christie for Governor.

Not at all, would be my guess.
Since when has the RNC given a flying fuck about politicians who don't have a "D" after their name abusing their powers and position?

Plus you have to wonder what Christie's chances of winning the big one are to begin with, considering the lunatic fanaticism of the Radicals and the nation's general disgust with them?

He might have a fair shot if he switches to Democrat.  Everybody assumes Hillary, but I don't think that is a given by any measure.

I'd suspect that Hilary killed her pig back in '08 as far as getting nominated next time goes.

She definitely leeched it and bled it.   And I don't see the VP necessarily getting the nod just for manners and tradition, it is different times I think and I am not sure either of those two could carry it, but all it would take is for the republicans to nominate somebody actually associated with their party, and then it would be either one of them taking the president.  Many dems like Christy, it is unfortunate many nutsackers don't, although there is one or two in the party ok with him.

And the fact that the evil forces of darkness have no problem with Christy is surely more of a stumbling block than him throwing his weight around in New Jersey, when his party forced everybody sane out of the running in favour of an unelectable Mormon fuckwit last time, that should have been a tip that moderate conservatives aren't Republican enough any more.
I might even feel a bit sympathetic if what the Republican party has done to itself wasn't self inflicted. As things stand though, it's like watching a man who's cut his hands off whining that he can't juggle anymore.

None. Since he has to be nominated at the Republican National Convention. An as we have seen in past events, the one person to get 'the nod' must be fanatically, dogmatic conservative. An that person loses in the general election because the Democrat appeals to the needs of moderates and liberals in the country.

But it is funny to watch the misinformation machines running at full capacity to publish all good things about the Republican candidate and only bad stuff of the Democrat. Its almost like they had a political agenda....

It was quite enjoyable to see Karl Rove have a total meltdown on nationwide TV because America picked Mr. Obama to a second term was worth the price of admission.

Also, emails acquired by a New Jersey newspaper prove the order to close the lanes came from the top level of the Christy administration and campaign and that it was done to punish the mayor of Ft. Lee for his refusal to endorse Christy.

It seems that scandal isn't going away any time soon. Now there's talk of Federal investigations. My guess is that even if Christie wasn't directly involved, this will kill whatever chance he might have had in '16.

This really isn't going to make one bit of difference. To be honest, few people even heard about this incident and most people don't really read the news unless it makes the front page in big letters or leads the tv news. Otherwise people have tuned it out.

This will be lost in all the other media stuff long before this will ever be a problem for Christie.

Not one fucking bit, except in the eyes of the bobbleheaded bitches for the DNC, and the jerkoff hacks from Organizing For America.

All the shrieking about this story is going to do is put a spotlight on the hypocrisy of those who want to act offended now, after having no problem whatsoever with President Obama using the IRS to target his opposition. Isn't the term, "manufactured scandal?"

It's funny to watch the lefties coming in their pants, though.

Bitter bitter....

Scandals are a fickle thing.....sometimes they happen and one doesn`t know why and w/ some people,we wonder why they don`t happen.....like with your president bush, when he lead thousands of Americans to their deaths.

Usually,it`s evidence.

With my governor,it`s his emails that say he knew about the 4 day closer, before all the days he spent saying he didn`t know.

Now that the lunatic fringes` favorite 2016 candidate looks like a shrub-league liar with a real scandal.....they got the hurts....as rich has demonstrated.

The most satisfying reactions so far to Christie claiming he "never knew" and is all "outraged" and shit,is from impotent Obama haters who`re like all whining, "why doesn`t the MSM call the President a liar like w/ Christie?!

Ha ha....
